Awful taste/feeling in mouth in the morning
Ever since I had the surgery, I've been waking up with a really bad taste and feeling in my mouth. It's like my mouth is really dry, it's hard to swallow and there's a realy funky taste, especially towards the back of my tongue. I first noticed it upon waking up a few days after the surgery. I thought it was because of all the liquids and once I got some solids in me, it would make my mouth taste different, but no. I brush my teeth before going to bed, but I still wake up every morning with the same thing. After some drinks of water, it'll go away, but.... is this normal after surgery and does it eventually go away?

Ketosis--the metabolism of fat, brings on bad breath. Plus, dehydration allows the bacteria to get going on your tongue. Keep plugging away with water and carry some SF mints with you. It will ease once your weight is stable. Then again, I love garlic...so I'm a morning breath person all day

Jared it was hard for me to get use to at first(use to wake me up out my sleep) but I get up every moring around 4 or 5am just to brush my teeth. I brush in between meals but I must have that complementary brush around 4 in the morn, it helps so much and my teeth have never been so white.

Yes, I constantly wake up feeling like I've licked the litter box. As a matter of fact, I need to go brush now. From what everyone has told me, it's perfectly normal.

I had that too especially after my second surgery (obstruction) i think it was from not eating anything for almost 2 weeks. But yes i too was told it was ketosis. Ketosis is a good thing, it means yur burning fat!! So enjoy it if you can.

Yeah dude, i still get that and im allmost 2 months post op... i supose your probly sleeping in a recliner or somthing at the moment those tend to make you sleep with your mouth open so that makes your mouth incredibly dry from breathing through your mouth.. but the taste.. i dunno i get it all the time and its quite annoying gotta start the day with mouthwash then my nasty chewables i need to take.. all in all its a fair trade off for being able to lose weight wouldn't you say? heh

Hey Jared........congrats on your weight loss......I see you're shrinking already. I think the worst part of my breath lasted 3-4 weeks. I thought it was partly from anesthesia since it happened before I got a chance to even lose any weight. It does go away. I used SF mints and toothbrushing.

Wow, if that's what it means, I'll gladly suffer through it
Thanks for the help, everyone.
