Default My 3 month post-op appt...

Only my beta-carotene is on the low side. Not surprising since I eat very little fruits and vegtables. I was more concerned with anemia or iron deficiency, but all the other values were just fine. I don't recall all the labs now. I just remember that the lab need 3 vials of blood. I'm a wuss when it comes to needles. This time the vein was much easier to find since I don't have that mound of fat sitting on top of it.

It will officially be 12 weeks on Friday. It seems like I've been doing this forever. This new lifestyle feels like second nature. The struggles of the past year just fade away. I recall the first week post-op being hellish..but like labor pains, I can't quite remember what it really was like.

Thanks all for your support

Default Marie,

That's great news girl! Congratulations on doing/eating, obviously, the right things and making good choices. What do you normally eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?

Watergirl,

I eat whatever I want, just in small, teeny amounts

I don't keep the traditional schedule. Breakfast is at noon, lunch at 3, and dinner at 8 when I get home. I'm just not hungry in the morning even though I get up at 6 or 7. I never was a morning eater, on occasion, I may have half a slice of well toasted bread with a tablespoon of peanut butter.

I take my pills with unsweetened soy milk or fat free milk. Noon time meal is based on how busy it is at the office. Sometimes a sandwich. Maybe chili, or the toppings off a pizza slice. Mid afternoon is usually the other half of what I had at noon.

Dinner is more structured. I may have teriaki chicken, pork, or fish. Many times it's sashimi. Grilled or baked meat. Tofu, edamae or cheese dishes are also in the mix. I generally don't have a side dish, though I may sneak a bite of rice or pasta off my husband's plate

Every once in a while if I just don't feel like cooking, then I choke down half a protein bar or drink.

That is great information Marie. It gives me something to look forward to in terms of eating new foods. I can't wait until I can eat something different that won't make me sick..

Default Lucky you!

I'm 12 weeks out and can NOT tolerate chicken or really any meat. I can do fish if I chew it into oblivion. I can basically do refried beans and cheese, bean soup, yogurt, and other soft stuff. I have to go in Tuesday for an EGD and see if my hole is too tight. Whenever I try any solid food or meat, it feels like I've swallowed a box of rocks and then I usually get sick. Am I trying too much, too soon? Next week will be 3 months out.

Tabitha,

Let us kknow the results of the test. Some peoplle do have trouble with a regular diet and need to progress much more slowly. It sounds very difficult to have that experience. Hopefully you'll have some answers.
