Default Girl question (personal)

I have a monthly cylce question, so guys you might want to skip this thread!

O.K. girls this is quite personal and yet I do not know where to go for this question.

Anyone find that their period changed from being normal to being painful after wls??

I have had the last 2 months with unusually heavy flow as well as incredible pain. So much discomfort that I can not even keep a tampon in and it seems to be worse when I have gas or need to have a b.m.

what is up with that???

It only lasts for the first 2 days, but jeeeeezzzz!!!!

I am one of those girls who never even had a cramp, now this is excrutiating. I can barely walk, bend what ever. Going potty or passing gas as well as removing the tampon helps, but still very uncomfortable.

Anyone else with similar problems??

I know I am not far out like you but my last period was much worse than before WLS. I had more gas than normal which ment more cramps. there where times when I couldn't walk and was bent over with massive pain. It passed and I hope the next one wont be that bad. Good Luck!

So far, I haven't had the issue. Long ago, I used to have severe cramps. My whole leg would go numb and I couldn't walk for a day or 2. I was on 1200 mg of Motrin to help. After 2 years, it stopped when my cyc;es became more regular.

Being on a hormone BC method may help ease the symptoms. The increased hormones in your bloodstream from losing weight will throw off your balance. Once you reach goal and stabilize your weight, the cramping should ease. Having orgasms may also relieve the discomfort. Resting at the first sign of the cramp may help, along with massaging the uterus area. Walking may alos help.

I got my period 4 times in the first 3 months! UGH! It is now back to normal. Yes, my cramps were worse then and my period was heavier but now things are better.

Thanks girls, but I am not sure these are cramps. I hope it gets better. Thanks for the input though.

Marie, how does weight loss increase the hormones in my blood stream. and could this result in decreased labido?

Rain:

It was explained to me that estrogen is stored in fat cells. When you have rapid weight loss, estrogen is released into your system. Hence, temporary hormone imbalances.

As I've posted before, I was told that menstrual cramps are caused by an overproduction of a certain enyzme in the uterine lining. The hormone influx may exacerbate the production of the enyzme. Therefore, heavier flow and cramping. I asked for and received permission from Dr. Callery to take low doses of Motrin a couple of days each month to relieve my cramping.

Also, my period actually stopped for six months. However, I'm a lot older than you and I may be entering perimenopause. Unfortunately, my period is now back to normal.

As far as your libido, I would think that the increase in estrogen would increase your libido, not decrease it. But what do I know?!

The few periods I had before I found out I was pregnant were very very heavy and painful. I agree that I think it is due to hormone imbalance.

I have my answer!!! I'll get pregnant!!!

Just kidding of course!!!

I think the labido problem is more like a timing problem. The house is always full of teeangers andd young adults!!! We have no privacy and yet we love that the kids love hangin' out with us, so we need to invest in hotel rooms i think.

Dara, why did you need to ask for permision to take Motrin. I have been taking ibuprofin since surgey no problem. (for headaches or cramps) Kelley knows I take them.

No Rain...don't you dare get pregnant...that hernia of yours will grow. Silly girl. Isn't it bad how your privacy disappears even more when the kids get older...mine always know when our door closes..it is so sad and they are like door magnets.
