Default ibuprofen

Ibuprofen, while great for cramps, is really hard on your stomach. Even before WLS. It can tear up the lining of your stomach, as can other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Be sure to take with food, or even a prescription med designed to protect the stomach lining. Check with your doc.

Yeah I was also told here in Iceland the motrin and aspirin were big no no's. My cylce became more regular after WLS but it also became heavier and lasts longer.

Wow, its cool to see a thread revived after a couple months.

So I guess I will update you all.

The cramps are better and I can take ibuprofin on occasion just not regular ongoing basis. I need to be cautious, but I don't have to completely illiminate it.

I have had wierd schedule as it is not regular 28 days apart. I am a week late right now and to tell you the truth I don't even mind. But then again, not only have I changed with the weight loss I am also 44 and I am sure my hormones are changing too.

Good luck to you all!

My doctor said no ibuprofin, too toxic seeing as medications go straight to the liver now. (Just like alchohol).

My aunt flo stayed for 6 days last month compared to 3 days prior to surgery. My cramping was worst as well. I just figured that this was due to just having surgery. My doctor said that if it continued to be bad he would put me on some type of injections. I had my tubes tied years ago so I did not want to take birth control pills.

And here I thought I was alone. Before surgery, I rarely had a period. Then about a year and a half ago, I had one bad enough to put me in the ER. I started yesterday and this morning, it's almost as bad as that one time. I'm having the devil of a time getting through to the navy doctors and I'm not sure if I should be worried, or just resigned and get through this week.

I have to say, I LOVE my primary Doc. I saw her last week, and she's going to put me on birth-control pills to settle down my HEAVY periods!

It's tough to say if it got worse, or just still continued to be bad after WLS, but my most recent tests show iron defficiency, so anyway to stop loosing TONS of blood every month is a good thing. I get more clots now, which I'm thinking are part of the "cramping" I'm getting. Nothing so bad I can't handle it, though, Thank God!!!

The first 3 months were awful, twice as long, cramps that were painful and I bled like a stuck pig.. it was awful. While on the 2nd one post op I had to call out from work it was so uncomfortable and I was having to change every 30 mins.. no joke! Horrible... but now its all normal again n stuff.
