Default Severe Leg Cramps!

Just recently I have been getting really bad leg cramps that wake me up in the middle of the night! They are so painful that it makes you want to scream!. My husband is such a sweety and wakes up and gets me a super hot towel as the heat clams it down and the heating pad takes too long!!

Has anyone else had this problem? I used to get these cramps when I was doing lo-carb diets like Atkins and I didn’t have enough potassium. But I am taking all my vitamins like a good girl!

Default Well

It's either Potassium, or Calcium. One of the two culprits. Suzy

Magnesium or B-12 can also be a culprit.

My B12 was low and when I started to take it within a week I was soooooo much better. I felt almost crippled like a 90 year old woman.

I had that problem and the doc told me 1/2 cup of OJ mixed with 1/2 cup of water once a day for 2 to 3 days. Worked like a charm for me.

In the book "The Real Skinny on Weight Loss Surgery" they are called scramps (screaming cramps). Has to do with the leaching of calcium - there is controversy if it is too much calcium or too little - I know, big help. My surgeon explains that as you get smaller your frame also shrinks and lots of people get these scramps throughout their body. I have not had any yet....

I have noticed a direct correlation between the leg cramps I get and the amount of fluids that I have in a day. If I have a day where I drink little fluids I cramp @ night, if I drink my normal fluids thru the day I don't cramp at night.
