Hey guys
Im not tryig to hurt anybody's feelings here... dont take it so personal. As you said you were encouraged not to go... I was just told that yesterday by Sandi and I was outraged yesterday as I am today. I am not pointing fingers at you two... Im pointing fingers at anyone who would tell somebody they cant go... as for the East County meetings, Sandi you were one of MANY who were pre op who went there... many preops went there. It's not a bad thing you were there, its a good thing. that's where you learned so much about things, what to expect, troubles, problems, processes, etc.,
And by privileged I am talking to those people who say, "You cant come, your not one of us.... yet." As you said, people said that to you... that's who I am talking too... why are you guys internalizing what I said? My word is not gospel... it's just my opinion.Through the process pre ops need support too, Sandi you got it, Crystll got it, Gerry got it, lots of folks got it... more Im sure Im not remembering got it.... so please dont take anything I said to heart and think it's an attack on you, its an attack on the "powers that be".
But when all is said and done, it's on the website.

One more thing
I still go to the early post op meeting. They say it's for patients who are up to 3 months out...I love that meeting, it helps me greatly. It helps me more that any other meeting.. I am 6 months out, so do I have to stop going. Im still a patient regardless if im 3, 6,9 or 12 months out....

Have a seat.. this court is now in session
Ok now..
First of all.. I talked to the office today and spoke to them several times in the past before I had surgery and this support group is for POST OPS ONLY!!! Sorry to ruffle feathers.. not turning anyone away.. it's just the facts.. that is why they have their own PRE OP SUPPORT GROUP. First of all.. us post ops have several issues to discuss, and with pre-ops there they want to know things like "how long does it take in the pile, how long are you in dictation, etc." those are questions that are so much better answered in pre-op support groups. Those questions take up the valuable time that us post ops need for support or questions. I'm not discriminating against anyone.. and don't like the ugliness involved here. I am sorry that the East County group has closed and everything.. but there is nothing we can do about that.
I will email John and see if he can update the forum to show the correct information in the support group sections so that it shows that it is actually for post ops only. There are a lot of post op patients that need this support group, and I know that pre ops need it as well, however they do have a specific group for them as well. There are so many patients now that they had to group it off. There is not a ton of room in there for everyone.. wish there was, but there isn't.
That is my two cents!! Sorry if it upsets anyone.. but that's the deal.

One more thing
Ok I just spoke with Alicia again.. they are so sorry that the website has not been updated.. however, this is a rule that was set up by the office.. not anyone in here and it should be complied with. If you look in your BLUE BINDER you will see that it says that the GENERAL SUPPORT GROUP is for POST OP PATIENTS ONLY!!! IT has been updated there..
So thats the dirt..

I Agree
Christina is right. There is a reason why there are two different support groups and I think Christina hit the nail on the head. What is not in the pre op group that can't be answered? Post op patients have post op questions and concerns. The office is right, keep the two separate and I'm sorry if others get upset.

Jim and Christina,
Thank you for clearing that up. I do remember seeing the information in my Blue Binder about the meetings and who they are for and it was in fact updated.

Hold the freakin' train!!!
All I gots to say is...if Sandi doesn't come to the POST-OP support group...I'm gonna be friggin' peeved!!!
You hear me Sandi??......You better be there lady!!! I have to see you tomorrow!
Just a side note....Bridge, you said you still go to the early post-op group, as do I...the difference between the 2 groups are the post-op support group is usually PACKED but the early post-op group is NEVER packed. If the early support group was standing room only, I would not go to that meeting anymore because I would want to give the others the oppurtunity to enjoy the group that was made just for them. Since it is such a small group, I have no problems with taking up a seat. The amount of room plays a big part in the reasoning for the post-op only group now.
Love you all!

This is just downright silly
You know, I really dont care all that much about the situation at all. I'm just the type of person that wouldnt care who showed up, no matter where you are in the process, I guess that's just the liberal in me . It appears that others disagree with me, thats fine, just as that's life. I dont have a problem with it. If Sandi is taking it to a whole other level by saying she isnt going becuase of my 2 cents... thats silly. I didnt mean harm, and I dont know why what I said was taken so personally. If I offended anyone, particularily Sandi, I apologize, that was not my intent.
I am not going to the meeting after all, and not because of the nonsense that has occured from this thread, but because I dont have anyone to watch my sons. I cant risk bringing both... they will cut up. So everybody enjoy, and I will see y'all later.

Bridget, don't think twice that I'm taking anything you said for more than the 2 ¢ it was worth or for what you meant it!!
You didn't "offend" me in the least, you down right pissed me off!! BUT, as you say "thats the liberal in you", that's NOT the liberal in me, I'm 180% there, I'm not liberal, I'm the opposite, I just go ahead and let the redheaded temper in me get flared up, get madder than fire, then get over it!! LOL I'm already over it, I NEVER hold grudges, even though I get mad as he%%, I'm done with it in no time and forget it....
I'm sorry that you're not going to be there, cuz I wanted to make sure you knew that I didn't hold a grudge and wanted to hug your gorgeous skinny neck!!!! I hope you know that this comes from my heart, if it didn't, I wouldn't say it here on the forum, I'd just keep my mouth shut and stay away...
I love you Bridget, and I think thats how it is with all of us here, we ALL have a tie that binds us together, we've all been through hell and back and we get through crappy situations and make the best of it and come out shining on the "other side".....
See you soon, HOPEFULLY at an East County Support Group meeting if those people will get off their butts!!!!!
