Talking The perfect clothing arrangement!

A few weeks ago, Renee Burns (who had surgery a few weeks after me) contacted me and proposed the following arrangement: Since I was farther ahead than she, and she liked my taste in clothes from the last clothing exchange, she proposed that we go in together on new clothes every few months. I (lucky dog) would get to wear them first for about a month or so, then she would be ready to take them when they got too big. Well, Renee came to my house yesterday and was able to take about 4 bags of clothing from my massive pile of things that don't fit any longer. Then, we went to Mission Valley Center and spent $100 a piece on items from Lane Bryant (I'm in the smallest shirts now!) and Torrid. For $200, we were able to find clothes that we were both excited to wear!

Anyway - I wanted to share Renee's brilliant idea with the rest of you. We'll probably do a shopping day every few months until one or both of us are at goal. It really takes the sting out of buying new clothes that you won't wear for too long.

Ciao! B

Default Great Idea!

Two friends of mine who have also had WLS do the same thing almost. The first one, Jean, passes her things to Leah, then Leah passes them to me, and then I pass them to someone else. Luckily, my best friend, Nita is a genius with a sewing machine, so she's been able to alter a few things for me. I have a couple of suits that I haven't parted with yet because I want to keep a "reminder."

One majorly cool thing that happened to me Saturday; I took my daughter school shopping and we went to Old Navy. For the first time in 20 years, I bought a normal sized T-shirt from a normal sized store. It almost brought tears to my eyes. Little things make me so happy these days!

Also, other little milestones: I can soak in the bathtub without both sides of my butt hitting both sides of the tub at the same time. I went out with a few friends for a girls' night out, and when walking to the bathroom, I noticed that my big butt wasn't hitting the chairs and people around me. I could dance several dances and not get tired. They had birthday cake at work today and all I said was "ewww yuk!" The thought of sugar-laden whipped grease frosting made me want to hurl.

My husband is considering having WLS. Our family doctor made the referral and said he'd be a great candidate for the surgery. Now he's on the waiting list. I'm calling tomorrow to see if they can squeeze him in for his consult so he can start the ball rolling with his pre-op tests. He wants to wait until after the holidays to have the surgery so he can have a few last feasts. He has Medicare. Does anyone know how they are with approving this surgery?

Default Tabitha and Barbara,

Barbara, what a great idea!

Tabitha, Congratulations! That's such a great story. I hope all goes well on your husbands journey for WLS.
