Default pain 3rd day after post op

Hi,

I'm three days post op and I keep having pain just under my ribcage on my right side. The pain is really sharp at times. I'm not nauseated or vomiting but I am scared. I kept complaining about the same thing in the hospital and they said it was just gas and to walk. Anyone else go through this?

thanks

That's the area where your guts were reattached. It will hurt for a week or two.

That was going to be my suggestion(Gas). People don't relize it but Gas can become very uncomfortable and sharp. Hopefully it will go away in time but if not stay on top of your doctor about it.

I would like to say thank you for replying. I am still nervous about all of this and will probally be asking alot of questions in the future. Does anyone one know if gas x is ok to take or if it works for this?

I hope it subsides soon for you hun!

I figured the pain on my right side was where I was reattached, and where my gallbladder was ganked. What I am confused about is the thuds on the lower left side. Saw Dr. Mueller today for post op 1 week visit and he said it was just muscle spasms from the ports and the poking. That made me feel better. Anyone have experience on the lower left?

That is the spot on me that hurt the most and it hurt for at least a month and a half. After all the other pain went away I would still get jabs in that spot every now and again. it sucks.

Its not the type of gas that can be cured by gas-x its the gas that has to dissipate in your system so it takes longer for the pain to go away. Hang in there!

The gas and bloating was the absolute WORST part of recovery for me, but I didn't realize that was the problem until after it went away. It doesn't feel like regular gas. It should get better... hang in there!
