Chinese Food
When you gals & guys want Chinese food what do you usually get? I love Chinese, but dont know for sure what will make me dump.
I used to eat Kung Pao Chicken, or beef, and Sesame Chicken. I am pretty sure Sesame Chicken is off limits now, but what about the Kung Pao?
Just curious what yall eat when you want Chinese?

Hmmm..
Really its what you can tolarate I eat chinese cause I love it too but be aware Rice will fill you up with like just a few bites as will the Noodles you can try the Seasme Chicken if its not breaded chicken eating the Protein first then the veggies I would also try and stay away from the breaded items ie....Sweet & Sour Chicken and stuff like that Broccoli Beef is good again eating the beef first and not alot of Broccoli ummm pretty much make wise decisions and look at the food and think protein Shrimp is good Kung Pao may be a little much if its too spicy may hurt the pouch but I can eat chicken curry if its not too spicy, try what you can but try it at home first incase something does make you sick and everyone is different in what they can tolarate so this is a real hard question to answer you pretty much have to figure it out by trial and error sorry hun but there are some ideas for ya. Good luck.

Chinese Food
Hi Danette,
Chinese food is one of my favorites, Unfortunately at 4 years post opt I have a hard time with rice, it fills me up to fast and is difficult on my tummy. I usually get soup if possible like a sizzling rice soup as the veggies are usually easy to chew up and the chicken is as well. The other thing I try is to get something like chicken and broccoli or beef broccoli or mongolian beef or chicken, I can eat the veggies now but when I first started I couldn't, usually the sauces are pretty light and meat is good for you. I still have issues when something is too spicy, gives me a tummy ache.

That is funny you brought this up because I have been craving Chinese food. I had Kung Pao Chicken(mmmm the best) yesterday. I was scared at first too because I haven't tried any Chinese food since surgery, it went down so well. I got the little kids meal(from Panda express, minus the jello and drink) it is very convenient you don't feel obligated to eat all the food because usually Chinese food places give you that big food platter and pack it with food. Let me know how the Kung Poa Chicken turned out Danette.

I am pre-op, but I have found even when I was dieting...Moo Goo Gai Pan which is a little boring but very fresh tasting is good. It is white meat soft chicken with some veggies in a clear sauce. Nothing fried or spicy. May be a good first time try. I am sure all the chinese sauces have cornstarch in them, but this is really lite. I put some soy sauce on and yummy.

I just had it yesterday! I always get the buffet to go than i can get a couple of meals out of it. My favorite is Mongolian (sp?) shrimp. I also love the broccoli out of the beef and broccoli but I hate the way the meat tastes. I usually get an egg rolls and tear it apart and just eat the cabbage and stuff out of it with soy sauce.

Chinese Food
Danette:
My favorite chinese food is Mongolian Beef. For the first year post-op, I ate just the beef entreé without the rice. Lately, I've been eating about two tablespoons of steamed white rice with my entreé. The rice fills up the pouch pretty quickly, so I don't eat too much of it. I've also shared a fried won ton appetizer with my hubby. We love China Camp here in San Diego--the fried won ton are not greasy at all.
Post-op, I've also had Moo Goo Gai Pan and Cashew Chicken (in white sauce, not brown sauce). Both are pretty mild. I don't like szechuan Chinese food at all...nothing remotely spicy. I guess I'm a pretty bland eater.
As the others have suggested, I would try a couple of things as take-out first. Happy eating!

I am only 8 weeks out and just ate Chinese last week for the first time. I had curry chicken and pork with mushrooms. This week I tried Szeshuan chicken........which tasted a little sweeter than I expected, but I had no problem. For now I've skipped rice, eggrolls, and all that. I do love eggdrop soup, but I save it for a separate meal.

Chinese food made me sick as a dog. Excess gas that I couldn't get rid of, so I finally had to get rid of it myself (vomit). I've started a bad habit when a food doesn't "feel right". Get my drift? I'm afraid of some things going all the way through when they feel strange from the get-go, so I just get rid of it myself when I absolutely have to. I know this can be called bulimia, but I wouldn't consider myself bulimic. Any comments?
