Sounds similar to bulimia to me. The difference is that rather than purge for weight loss, you purge because it doesn't "feel right."

I can understand the food coming up if you're extremely ill and debilitated from something you ate. None of us want to be ill. However, purging something that doesn't feel right is not the same thing. You refer to this as a "bad habit." If I were you, I would seriously examine why you feel the need to do this.

Nikki, I hope you're not offended by my opinion, but you asked for comments. I hope this somehow helps you.

Heather:

I just wanna say that it's not my intention to tell others what to do. I only try to offer my own experiences and try to offer suggestions/alternatives as I see them. I definitely don't want to give the perception that I am passing judgment on anyone.

Whew, I got that off my chest.

Now, as I see it, no one wants to feel ill. I've eaten food too quickly or food just hasn't set well on my stomach, and I have felt really ill. Someone else would probably throw it up. I can't--I'm phobic about vomiting. To me, vomiting feels worse than the food. It makes perfect sense that other people would want to get the offending food out of the stomach.

Throwing up again and again because the food doesn't "feel right" sounds a bit more like there's something else involved. I hope you understand what I'm trying to suggest. It's just an observation--something to ponder.

I will have to say that I think you definitely ate KFC too soon. I can totally understand why you were sick. This is definitely a learning experience for all of us.

Good luck in your journey.

Oh Dara - i wasnt offended i love the opinions of others - i think we all must or we wouldnt be here - RIGHT???

i was just wondering what else to do as it hurts so bad i wanted others ideas of what to do or what they do ~ should i have tried to lay down go for a walk what would have made it stop besides vomiting as i hate to do that and dont think i should be doing it this early as i am afraid something could open up....or will it not hurt so bad later or & i clearly need to learn NOT to eat to fast & to eat wrongly as i clearly did!

PLEASE remember i appreciate your and everyones opinion - THANK YOU for your words of advise i know i can take them or leave them at anytime so please do not stop! I appreciate all opinions as i see them as words of wisdom and if i dont agree then is just your opinion & i will keep looking for what i want to hear!! LOL

I hate to judge, and this is not the first time I've seen fast food mentioned on here. But I am really puzzled at how people can eat any kind of fast food, in any amount/portion following surgery. I would think, considering all the crap they put in fast food, it would be the last thing I'd want in my body. Just my opinion.

Jared:

I think that's the point. All of us have a history of bad choices with food; otherwise we wouldn't be here! The goal is to relearn. We need to stop bad habits and behaviors, and learn new good ones. This is what our tool allows us to do. When we make bad choices, it lets us know--one way or another.

Some of us have to try, stumble, and then we learn. Others (specifically like me) are too afraid to try, but still learn by not doing it. Perhaps you're like me. I never did one thing that wasn't specifically approved by my surgeon. Others on the forum try things and experiment to see what they can tolerate. It's a hit and miss thing with them. We all have to learn our own way.

Heather:

Thanks for your response. We're all in this together. It always helps that we care so much about each other's well-being. I like to think of us as brothers and sisters in WLS.

Both of you: Good luck, peeps! Love ya!

Default new habits

The program I am going through at the time, preaches, rather loudly, NO, NO NO, NO junk food....no fast food.......before surgery we look at other options and posible senerios where we would have to make a better choice.
I know alot of folks, familiy, who would have benifited with this type of program.
I for 1 don't want to screw this one up, my last chance.......If this means I just look on as everyone else is eating fries then so be it.......small price to pay if you ask me.

Just curious what yall eat when you want Chinese?

I still can't eat it...too much grease or something. Everytime I try, I get sick. I think the only thing that I can eat is chicken, but if it has too much sauce, it gets me good.

I thought the same thing in my early stages. As your pouch matures, you will be able to eat some fast food....it will all be a matter of what you choose to eat. I choose healthy options because it just makes me feel better. If my family eats at Burger King, I will eat salad with some grilled chicken breast. Yes, I can eat some fries and some burger, but my pouch agrees with the salad and chicken breast and it just makes me feel better. I didn't go through all of this to ruin it. And yes, I have idiotic days where I do eat some kind of junk and I pay for it. Dara summed it all up well.

SO you know I am pre-op, but today I experienced something I never had before - FOOD POISONING.....if this is anything like dumping.....UGgghhhh.

Had a lunch meeting buffet, and not sure what made me sick, but I had a van of 5 others...me driving and we went to a meeting 1 hr away. I had to stop the van to get sick on the way home. My tummy just starting rolling over, I got hot flashes, nausea, general ill feeling...then a few hrs later, the other end starting working too. Not a good feeling.
