Even the educated ones don't have a clue. I have a bunch of nurses as co-workers and they were just as uninformed. After ANY surgery, there is diet changes. Nurses know that, yet were just as flabbergasted about how restrictive things are initially. People are people. They still haven't learned. They have seen me eat what ever they have. Yet, they question the eating habits of the other girls who've had surgery since I did.

It will pass. You'll get to a point where it doesn't matter what others think or say. I will unapologeticlly eat whatever I want, when I want, and how I want. It may look strange to others to see me take one bite of a sandwich, then proceed to remove the meat and veggies. What's left behind is a pile of bread, and half of the sandwich. For me, it's as normal as eating pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving.

HiYa Jared,

I am having the same experiences with alot of people too, especially at work. Coming and and offering me candy.. asking questions and then responding. "Omg! I could never give up {insert sugar/candy/caffeine/etc. here}!!! What DO you eat?

I just smile and laugh and feel Hella Good about myself! It's alot like when I quit smoking and subsequently kinda started to feel sorry for peeps who still do .. yanno? Those things were killing me .. and now I'm gonna live a much higher quality of life.

Anyhoo.. hang in there. He will get it when you start looking all svelte! If he doesn't .. it will be him who stops coming 'round.

Hi - haven't read all the replies yet, but my take is that he's probably jealous because soon you'll be a hottie-hot-hot, and he'll still be his same ol' sucker eating, awkward self!

Congrats on starting your journey!! I hope to be joining soon...
