I started eating split pea soup and cheese on day 8. I couldn't wait to chew something. My first meal was a hard boiled egg. I just ate the egg white part. I eat cottage cheese with salsa and also yogart. I ate the top off a pizza last night. I am 13 days out now. Good luck and talk to your Dr. ask him when and what you can eat. It is so much better when you can eat stuff. week 2 is so much better than week 1!

Wow, Holly, you're a brave soul! You know we had our GB on the same day, and the most daring I've been yet is a very tiny bite of white chicken meat, pintos and cheese from Taco Bell, and my sugar free peanut butter.

When did you eat the egg? What kind of cheese did you eat? And cottage cheese and yogurt? I've never even tasted cc...what's it taste like?

Marci,

It gets better...you shouldn't have to stay on clear liquids for very long. Just be sure and talk with your doctor about your diet. Sometimes, a good cup of crushed ice and no-sugar-added juice curbed my cravings.

That and popsicles!

Holly the first time I had a hard boiled egg it sat in my chest like a rock! I only have it now if it is egg salad or scrambeled.
Have you tried any cream soups yet? I lived on cream of asparagus and cream of tomato all made with skim plus or fat free heavy cream.

I've found quite a few cream soups. I like the Campbell's creamy verde soups...spicy and filling! As for broth, I had to spice it up, to make it more like soup, otherwise, it wasn't an option for me. I got tired of broth very quickly!

Wow, I can't imagine having to stay on clear liquids or any liquid diet for so long. My doc allowed me to have soft foods 5 days post-op.

I eat what they said was ok. I just chew chew chew until there is nothing left. I had an egg for the first time on the 17th. I eat LF string cheese. I eat NF cottage cheese. I love it, I just put a little salsa and pepper for flavor. It is hard to describe the taste really. You will love it or hate it. I don't eat any bread or anything crunchy. Just high protien low fat.
