Default Changed bowel movements

When i went home from surgery i usually had a really smelly watery bowel movement about once a day.. im allmost 4 weeks out now and only on a full liquid diet and only have a bowel movement like once every couple days.. Am i constipated or somthing or is it because I'm not getting any food and fiber or what not? anyone else experience this?

What's the consistency of your stool now? Do you have pain with a movement or cramps?

Normal stool should be soft with some form to it, like fresh Playdoh. Try getting more fiber in. I like Benefiber because it mixes well and tasteless. Check out different vegetable juices. Try fruit juice cut in half with water. Even though you're on a liquid diet, you still need some water. Walking will help too. It's not unusual for your stool to get hard and slow down when your diet changes. It will probably happen again when you can have soft foods, then regular. You should have a BM at least every 3 days. If diet doesn't help, you can ask your doc about taking a stool softener and maybe a laxative.

I swear that right after surgery I didn't have a bowel movement hardly EVER. I thought something was wrong with me but I figured it's because i wasn't eating hardly anythign so there wasn't much to come out. It's more normal now

Default Normal BM

As long as you are not uncomfortable between bm's and you are not struggling with them. It is normal. It is healthier to have a BM every 24 to 48 hours with the idea being the things that we eat that come in contact with out colon wall, the less time it spends there the less of a chance it will have to interact with any possible toxins that can cause colon cancer. But do not fret, as your diet changes, so will your poop. Increaed fiber and increased water will help
