Default Sleeping Late

Well, I've now found that unless I want Mr. Lortab taking up residency in my system, the idea of me sleeping late is out of the question -- at least since I've been home. I have been awake before dawn...every morning.

You've got to tell me that this doesn't last!

That happen to me too about 2 months out. I was taking the Loratab some nights to get a good nights rest but once I started working out I started sleeping good again. But now at 3 months post-op I am having the same problem so I try and walk, and take a nice warm shower, and if that doesn't work then I take Tylenol PM(great stuff)before bed. I hope this moment will pass for you.

Enjoy the new day! Watch the sunrise. I've become much more of an early bird since surgery. Likely related to the sleep apnea going away. I more energy in the morning and I take advantage of it to enjoy my coffee, plug away on the forum, and get a jog in before the sun rises too much. Well, and the dogs get hungry and wake me up too

As for Lortab, only use it for pain. If you start using it to help you sleep, you're starting to inch over into another realm, not good. Use it only for what it is prescribed for. As long as you feel refreshed in the morning, you're getting enough shut eye and may need to adjust your schedule to a new cycle.

Give it some more time. Whatever you are experienceing now, is not what you'll experience in 2-3 months. The first few weeks don't count as the rest of your life. How you feel now is not what's going to make or break you in the future. Ride through it and allow your body to adjust to things before you get too worked up over the little stuff.

This happened to me at first and then I sliped right back intothe old me later on which is sleeping in. I am sure your body will adjust. I don't know if it is a good thing or a bad thing to sleep in, but I sure do cherish my Saturday and Sunday sleep-ins.

I had that happen too. It leveled off and now I sleep like the dead on weekends for a good 8 hours. I only get 5 during the week. If you need a sleep aid try the tylenol PM or ask the doc for something. Lor Tab is for pain, not for sleep. They make me hyper and nervous and unable to sleep. Weird, huh?

I would think that being less than a week post op...your body is going through so many changes...You probably can't get as comfortable as you would like. I think as you heal...sleep will return. Tylenol PM is basically 25 mg of benedryl. They are not habit forming and do well with giving you a night sleep.
Pleasant Dreams my friend

Funny how we're all different. All sedatives give me nightmares, OTC or prescription.

I have tend to get up early, I have been waking up at 3am, Daily since surgery 12 days ago. But I am more active during the day, and don't get tired as easily as I use to. I do take a nap of about a hour daily, I still have somehow managed to lose 23 pounds since surgery.
