Default 6 weeks and loosing

Finally went to the doctor today and had my 6 week check up. I thought 6 weeks would never get here. My doc doesn't allow meats or anything of substance till 6 weeks. Now I can officially have tuna, fish, and such.

I am soooo happy today. I thought I was stagnant at 31 pounds loss for about two weeks. I wasn't allowing myself to get tooo down due to all the comments on here but it was getting to be a bummer. According to the "official" doctors scale I am down 37 pounds. Thats 6 pounds over the ten percent of pre-op body weight that they want at 6 weeks.

Another good thing! I got all those tubes outta my tummy. The wound infection has cleared enough and closed to a point that I only have to gause it for a few more weeks...YAY. No more g-tube nothing!

I was so excited my wife took me to Red Lobster and bought me shrimp scampi. Took me three hours to eat 6 shrimp and a biscuit but boy they were the best I have ever had!

Thank you all for being here! It has been such a help!

Drinking comes easy for me too. Be careful though. this first six weeks is a training period. Just because we can drink that fast doesn't mean we should. In fact later it will hurt.

Quick question for you... In your post you say later it will hurt (drinking so much to fast)

So after 6 weeks does the inside change?? Meaning wha we can do at 4-6 weeks is it different than later on?

Just curious. Im four weeks out!

No what I was refering to is the way our minds work. The tool tht we now have is only as good as we use it. If we allow ourselves to over fill it at the beginning stages, when we get to where we can eat more solid foods we are more likely to over fill it then too. That is what is dangerous and hurts us. Making ourselves drink slower and eat slower helps us later when we can have foods that could cause harm to our bodies if eaten or drank fast. It's all psycological but it does make since.

I hope that helps.

In my experience, drinking and eating are totally different. I can do 3 medium swallows in a row.......never did really have to sip. However, I have to really chew and concentrate to eat, and I can hardly eat 1/2 cup most times. My friend has to sip, she eats way more food items than I can and can eat probably twice as much than me, maybe even more. Neither of us are out of the "normal" range for post-op, but just different effects.

I treated myself and was hoping I wouldn't have to pay too bad. It worked out but like I said I took hours to do it.

The chances of it happening again are very slim. The butter made me feel a bit ill. It was worth it though.
