Default Ground beef Question

What is the exact reason behind waiting so long to have read meat such as ground beef??? Does it affect your pouch different?

For me i was told red meat is harder to digest and it sits on the stomach too long. I have been two years post-op and still have a hard time eating red meat and when i do i either barf or feel that my airways are being constricted. Just becareful and listen to your doctor.

with WLS careful eating and diet restrictions are NOT usually to "protect" the pouch.... what needs to kept safe is your intestine as things are being pushed into it with not as much digestion as it was used to. You want to protect the stoma, the opening from the pounc into your shorter intestine.... you dont hurt or stretch the pouch so much.. its all the stuff attached to it from both ends.

They always said that red meat was harder to digest after surgery, but I never had a problem with it at all. I'd say try a little bit, chewed well and all, and see how it goes....

my main problem is that the ground beef that is like 90 percent fat free or whatever tastes like crap.

I had ground beef within a month of surgery and did well. But everyone is very different as you may read on this post. I can tolerate pretty much anything except ALL forms of ice cream. I can't even have sugar free it makes me sicker than a dog.

But try it in small portions and see how it goes. Also remember that what works today may not work tomorrow and visa versa.

I had steak tartare at one month out. If you eat lean cuts, eat a small portion, and chew well, you can tolerate just about anything. It's the fat and gristle that will clog things up.

What was that old commercial that had the song,
"Chew, chew,
chew, chew,
chew, chew, chew"?

Anyway, that's what you have to do. I've had hamburger recently, and frankly, I've felt lousy since. I'm not sure if I didn't chew it well enough, or if my body just hates it. LOL

Chicken is actually worse for my pouch than red meat is, yesterday I had really well cooked ribs and chewed chewed chewed and everything went down all right. Eating the feathery animal it's just like a kick in the pouch.
