Unhappy Pain in Pouch area

I am 18 days out from surgery an on soft foods. I have thankfully had absolutely no problems (except trying to get all my protein in!!!)
To date. This morning I have a light/dull but noticeable pain in my pouch area. It is not constant, it comes and goes. I decided not to “eat” anything today and just strictly do protein drinks. Worried something might be wrong or is a little pain normal????

You guys have been wonderful group, thank you for answering all my questions and all the support! You all are truly great!

Does it occur when you eat? The pouch can be quite finicky.

I am a little over 3 weeks and am having the same exact symptoms. I mentioned it to the doctors office on Tues and they said it was normal and may take several weeks to go away. I must admit I am starting to feel a tad better. But it will bug the crap out of you...especially when trying to sleep. I ended up on the couch several nights.

Important question... where do you think your new pouch is located?

If your answer is to the left, kind of low- you are wrong. If you are getting a burning/stabbing type of pain theat goes away when you readjust-and you had your surgery lap, this is normal.

If yu answer is beneath your diaphram you are correct. thats why you will get the hiccups easily after eating or drinking and your pounch has "expanded" from food or air.....

Okay so where did ya think your pounch was located.

Default I had lots of problems myself..

Hey I hear ya with the pain... I had lots of it, and when I ate my pouch wasn't kind to me. If you think the pain isn't normal call your doc.. first of all. I had weird pain sensations even almost 2 months post op. Eat slow, chew well.. and eat SMALL bites. I find that even now I eat too big of bites and it makes me nauseated. Hard to change the old behaviors. Suzy

Default Not my Pouch

I don't think my pain involves my pouch. I think it is muscular. But it sounds very similar to what LisaP was describing.

First always check with your doctor He/she always knows best.

But I had pain after open surgery and Dr. Potts told me that it was my muscles waking up after being cut through and stuff. Were your binder if you have one and call the doctor if the pain doesn't go away in a couple 2 days or if it get intense and won't go away.

Remember that you just had MAJOR surgery. The redid your inners and it will feel weird and painful for a while.
