Hi
I'm new here and have been reading for a while. I think you all are a great group and hope you don't mind me joining. My surgery was approximately 2 weeks ago on September 19, 2005. I heal really well and fast luckily and I have had no problems so far. Actually, that is my problem, I almost feel as if I didn’t even have the surgery. Per my doctor’s instructions I am on soft foods now as well as protein drinks still. I don’t feel like I have any restriction yet although I know I am not the same and it freaks me out. When I eat scrambled eggs, I can eat one whole egg and I thought I was only supposed to be able to eat only a few bites? So my anxiety is that I fear I have no restriction or can eat too much though I am not about to try to see how far. My question is, how much am I supposed to be able to eat post-op???? it is so confusing. Is it a couple of bites, ¼ cup, ½ cup??? Can any of you give me examples of how much you were able to eat within your first month?? Also don’t feel like I have any sensitivity to sugar. I try to stay within 5-10g sugar and not higher within any given thing I eat, but I have been higher a few times and have had no reaction. I feel like they did the surgery but didn’t? Is this normal or is it just me? Thanks for any help! ![]()

Lisa,
Don't worry, I feel the same way. I have not vomited, dumped or had any bad reactions to food. I feel like I can eat anything and do try alot of things. A couple nights ago I had 1 1/2 5" long lumpia. My daughter makes the best. That is the first time I had anything fried but I wanted to try it. Unfortunately I did not dump or have any problem. But on the other hand I have lost over 50 lbs and my three month is this Friday. Like I said , Don't worry, it will come off. Just don't sabotague yourself. I still have not eaten anything sugar or alot of fried stuff (with that one exception) Also my little poouch won't let me eat too much, I can really feel when it has had enough. Takes me all day to eat 3oz of tuna, with a few crackers. M ![]()

At 2 weeks out I was only able to eat 1/2 a scrambeled egg. 10 minutes and I was done. How long is it taking you to eat? You should not take any longer than 20 minutes max. If I sat there for a 1/2 hour then I would be able to eat the whole thing, but I stop when I feel full and get up from the table.

I had (and still have, sometimes) the same exact fears! I didn't get sick at ALL at first... none of the bad reactions they said would happen happened and I would stop eating when I felt like I didn't want the food anymore but I didn't even necesarily feel Full, you know? Not like I expected I would. the doctors just said that was good though, and I guess it's working properly, they tell me it is
Just be glad you're not getting sick!

you gals are lucky you don't get sick. I still vomit at least twice a week. Somethings just don't work for me. I could only eat about 2 to 3 bites at a time. If I ate a whole egg it would have had to have been in two meals. However, a whole egg is not that much compared to what you use to eat. Try to think of it like that. Don't push your pounch and try sugar or fried yet! You have plenty of time for that later. I can now eat a whole egg and a piece of bacon and 1/4 piece of whole wheat toast-if I'm really hungry. Don't compare yourself to others here-everybody is different and you just have to see what is right for you.

Listen to what your body tells you. Eat untill your full and then stop. I have thrown up twice and its been because I either ate to fast or too much. both times I have made myself throw up its not a good feeling.
