That feeling is normal if you've maybe eaten a little too much or have eaten too fast. Since your new pouch is so much higher (since it's the top section of the stomach), you will feel a little shortness of breath or a little tightness if you have eaten too much since it is close to your diaphragm. If you eat the amount of food that you should (4 oz.) and in the time limit that you should (20-30 minutes, but no longer), and you chew until food is almost completely gone in your mouth, and no fluids while eating, you should feel fine. Of course, the full feeling also depends on the texture of the food. If it is soft food, you may be able to eat a little more since it fits nicely in your little pouch. If it is more solid food, it doesn't take much at all to fill up. Experimenting with all kinds of foods (that you are allowed in your specific stages) is key since you want to know what agrees with you and what doesn't in case you go out to eat anytime soon.
It does take a lot of time to get used to your new tool, but will become second nature before you know it. I am 6 months out and am pretty used to my new lifestyle. I still have some issues with certain foods and STILL have to remind myself of the rules, especially when I forget to follow them and I have to pay for it later (nausea and vomiting), but I'm getting much better. Good luck and hope I helped a little?!

Just a reminder Nikki thank you for your post. The 4oz does not apply to you if you are just out of surgery. Please do not try to put in 4oz of food you will get very sick and very full..... Just wanted to add that caution.

For me it took me along time to figure out the new full feeling. Now it is second nature. I have had several time when I had that one more bite be way to much and wanted to spit it out but never did. Wished I did but didn't. For me it a pressure thing. I feel like a pressure or nausea feeling more that a full feeling. Now a days if I eat too fast or eat too much I get the really bad sleepies and stomach grumbles. I am still learning 8 month out or so how to stop when full. some days I can tell and some days I can't.

I began on 4 oz. with all my new post-op foods from the get go. Every Dr. is different. (of course, depending on it's mass and density too; soft vs. chewy, etc.)
So, yes, it may be less for others but was 4 for me.
