abnormal liver blood test
Hey All,
I havent posted in a while, been so busy getting back into the swing of things with school and being away from home. I am doing really well, 2 1/2 months out, and lost 40lbs. I am able to keep foods and liquids down no problem. I am having one issue though. I have been having right abdominal pain. The pain is usually dull and i can live with that, but all of a sudden the pain gets sharp, i vomit, and the pain dulls again. My dr. has done a ct scan, ultra sound(sludge found), and blood test. Everything had come back normal except for yesterdays bloodtests. My liver bloodtests were abnormal and they want me to go back to the office on thur for more bloodtest and an exam. Has this happned to anyone else? Does anyone know if this could cause the pain and vomiting im having?

My labs on my liver are still abnormal and I have a small fatty growth on it. My doc seems to think that at my next check up in December the labs should be back to the normal range. It takes awhile to get all the fat off your liver and get all the toxins froms years of abuse off it too. Please, let us know how things go for you!

My liver test have come back up two times in a row. I also have the lower right dull pain which sometimes radiates to the back. It is not from the surgery though. My liver problems come from Remicade and methotrexate that I am taking to control my rhemotoid Arthritis. I just did another blood test and I see my doctor next week so we shall see.
Keep us posted on how things are going with your doctor. I am interested to find out what is going on.
by the way I have been nasuous but I have not put two and two together liver thing and sick thing.

thanks for replying back. Did you have a biopsy done of the liver when you had your gbs done? My surgeon took a biopsy of mine. I have been wondering if maybe the liver is just not healing well from that. Think that could happen?
Barbarajo,
Does the nausa follow the pain?

Gall Bladder vs. Liver
You said they found sludge in the gallbladder. It sounds like attacks of biliary colic. They can do something called a CCK stimualted HIDA scan. It is a nuclear medicine study that they inject a radioactive material and your liver concetrates in and places it into your bile ducts and stored by the gallbladder. If it does all that then the liver is normal and you don't have a stone in the gallbladder causing the problem. They inject you with CCK (cholecystokinin) which is a hormone that stimulates the gallbaldder to contract and let out the bile for digestion. If that simulates the pain, and there is also a measure called an ejection fraction...they measure it and you may have gall bladder dysfunction causing the problem. (Biliary dyskinesia)
Gall bladder problems are not uncommon with rapid weight loss. They used to take out the gall bladder routinely with these procedures a while back, but not any more.
Hold tight, have faith in your physician, but if they don't offer this test...maybe ask why. It never hurts to be pro-active. They of course know you and your medical history the best and this is only "internet advice"
Good Luck
Dyann

My Dr has done a ct scan and an ultrasound of the gallbladder and said that there were no stones just sludge. he said that he doesnt belive the sludge is causing the symptoms im having Is it possible that there could be some forming and have not showed up yet? Just kind of frustrated with the pain and vomiting and not getting any answers.

My liver enzymes are elevated (I'm pre-op) ... they may do a biopsy on my liver -- and I just had an ultrasound done. I'm 9 days out.
I suspect fatty liver, and hope it's nothing worse.

Well i had a physical done last friday and they did normal bloodwork that they do at all physicals. got a call today saying thst they wanted me to go back in because my liver results were high. This only confirms what my surgeon said about the bloodtests he had done 3 days prior. I told them what was happeneing and that i was going back to the surgeon on thursday. They just said that they would keep incontact with each other. I am a little worried because i have never had any problems with my liver. My levels have always been extreamly normal. Guess ill find out whats happening tomorrow.
