Question about Dumping or ?????
I have not really experienced dumping but maybe one time since surgery. No violent exiting happening.
But I do have this weird thing that happens and I think it is my bodies version of dumping. It happens if I eat too much fats or carbs. One time it happened from one bite of my husbands hot fudge sunday. Night before last I didn't have anything sugary. I had steak 1/4 of a baked potato, and some summer squash I did have 1/4 tsp of ass kicken steak sause. Time before that I had Greek food so I had a salad made up of the lamb Gyros meat and lettuce and cucumbers and stuff. I thought maybe it was from the white sause.
Here's the deal. I start feeling all gasious so much so that every time I it has happen I have taken Gas X. Then some times I may go #2 potty maybe once or twice. No big deal if ya know what I mean. Then I get tired, really really tired. Like not matter were I am I want to lay down and sleep. When I do go to sleep it is more like I have slipped into a coma and I sleep for 2-3 hours. It is some of the best sleep that I have ever had.
I was wondering if any one you have experienced what I call coma sleeping as a result of eating the wrong things. Or if you have some information that you can share about it.
Thanks in advance

I have had that and I've called it dumping that is the only thing I could think of it could be. My body does it from to many fats, carbs or to much sugar so I just thought it was dumping.

Barbara, this is what happens to me. I do just fine with large fat amounts but I can't do a lot of sugar or a lot of carbs. When I eat too much (haven't figured out my threshold of carbs but over 12g of sugar is too much for me) of these foods I will start to feel hot, and really tired. Then I need to lay down and I fall asleep for a few hours and when I wake up I am really weak. Sometimes I am shaky. It is weird. I would say it happens a few times per week. The last time it happened I ate a small bowl of cheerios as an after-dinner snack. At least it was bedtime! I haven't really experienced the violent dumping yet though.

In maintenance... now I'm yo-yoing up and down 10 lbs or so. I'm trying to find out how to stay at a set weight, it's rough.

Thats mild dumping, and in can happen after 20 mins of eating carbs! This happens to me, along with excessive yawning.. its a crack up!

Okay, self medicating time...
When I really can't sleep, a small bowl of full leaded ice cream does the trick. Fine line between mild dumping that makes me sleep vs. the painful cramping kind that makes me roll around on the floor.

Sounds like dumping to me. I have only dumped "violently" a couple times, but the lazy sleepy got to crawl into a partial coma kind, has happened about 1 x a month or so. Usually startchy, and/ or sugary carb food. Creamy sauce once and one time lentil soup?? Ice cream if I eat too much.
The "violent" version includes the heart palpitations, the cramping stomach and extreme lethargy. argh!!! no fun at all.

Thank you all so much. I am so glad to hear that I am not going crazy. My parent and one friend of mine witness it happening and were very concerned about me. I told them I thought it was some kind of dumping but that I would check with my online friends and find out. They almost insistant I go to the doctor. Crazy worried people.
It is kind of nice to know that when I need the best sleep ever not I just can eat instead of taking benedryl. LOL just joking. It really is a very intense sleep. My husband knows now that I will out for a couple of hours. He get's some peace a quit that way.
