I will be at six months at the end of October and have gone from 327 to 247. I have hit so many plateaus I'm not sure what's happening. All I know is that I really want to lose more and get very upset when stuck in a plateau.

If you've lost 80 lbs in 6 months, you haven't experienced a plateau. Here's a quote I found, "the lack of weight loss should have continued for at least four weeks. Its not a plateau if you jump on your scales every 30 minutes, and then can't understand why you haven't lost weight."

Threads like this are a double-edged sword for me I love reading about everyone's success stories, and how pleased everyone is with their accomplishments so far. At the same time, I try to keep in mind that everyone is compeletely unique and different w/their weight loss, especially since I may not lose as fast as some of the rest of you.

Right now, I can't even fathom being 'thin' or even 'average.' I've been overweight for so long and at this point my expectations are so high, I'm afraid I'll be really disappointed after the fact if I don't lose as fast as I'm hearing some of you are. But, those are my issues, and I'm working on them

I'm so happy for everyone here! WTG and congrats to all of you.

I really recommend everyone see a therapist to work out some of these issues. It's not healthy to obsess about the numbers and compare yourself to others. This is about you and your journey, no one else's. A therapist can help guide you to develop a stronger sense of self. Without finding yourself, you won't be anywhere near as successful.

I'm almost three months out on Oct 5th I'm down 75 pounds, I was real sick the first two months in horrible pain. The Dr. said it's not about the weight always, it's inches also. I started at 310 and at 235 yesterday at Dr. appt.

Again, I have to say this thread was only about me being curious about everyone else's progress. I don't think it's healthy to obsess about the numbers either, but it is nice to know how successful all of us have been in our journey down the weight loss road. That was the idea behind it! I have other issues I need a therapist for, this is not one of them, at least not anymore...Good luck to everyone!

We all lose differantly, based on our age, metabolism and gender. This surgery boosts all of these factors to a place they have never been before, but still unique to each person.

With that said, here is my monthly chart as I lost...just for "Curious George" aka, Nicki!!!

month pounds lost total

1 32 32
2 13 45
3 15 60
4 9 69
5 9 78
6 8 86
7 4 90
8 5 95
9 6 101
I am giving into sharing this info, because I would have given an eye tooth for it while I was losing, just to see if I was in the ball park, the truth is, your gonna lose weight....no matter what!!!!

What do I eat?

Protien first, veggies and fruit.

Startchy carbs fill me up too fast and I feel I'm not nourishing my body when I fill up on startch. Besides I look at it now and see the fluffy bumpy white texture and it looks like cellulite to me....gross!!!! So I have probably eaten in the last 9 months an equivalincy of 2 slices of bread and 3 tblspoons of rice and maybe 2 tortillas. With the exception of whole grain tortilla chips, gotta have them, usually 3-6 per serving, my main bad!!! My occasional cheat is chocolate, usually a bite size bar about 3 or 4 during a one month span.

This has worked for me.

I really crave good foods like fruit, melon and tuna? go figure, helps my figure!!!

I hope this helps and not hinders, be glad at where you are....yipee!!!! You are on your way no matter what!!!

Thanks Rain! It's just nice to see others progress, ya know?!
It's such an exciting time in our lives that I, for one, am a glutton for INFORMATION, and LOTS of it!
Thanks for sharing!

Yep!!

I know what you mean, before surgery, I had gotten enough info on it, I probably could have performed it on myself!!!

I was giving my statistics because they asked the question. I'm not obsessing about anything. When I say I've hit a plateau it's because I will go at least a couple of weeks with weight gain and weight loss. It's a matter of wondering if things are going the way they should be.
