Default two quick questions

I was wondering approximately how much food do some of you consume in cups....I have been told only 1/2 cup for a meal to 1 1/2 cup per meal. I know there are times I can down a whole cup of something and other times not...am I overeating when I can eat a cup or more....second question...at your group meetings for post-op, do you have a certain amount you charge people or is it just a basket with whatever donation someone can give. Thanks

Barb

Everyone is different. I don't measure in cups. Somedays I can eat 1 egg and another day 1 1/2. Liquids go straight through so you can sonsume more. Steak maybe 2-3 oz. The further out the more you can eat.

I just went in today for my 1 month follow up. I talked to the nutritionist about the same thing. She said it is ok at my stage (your not that far ahead of me) to eat 1/2 cup, but NO MORE. She said 1/4 to 1/2 depending on what your eating.
P.S. everyones guidelines are so different. So you might think about consulting your nutritionist. Mine is the ONLY one i will listen to as far as what i should and should not be eating. Make her or him your new best friend.

I eat the protein first, then a few bites of the veggies. I eat until I'm full, not stuffed. The amount varies. It all evens out in the end.

Default 2 ounces

My doc has limited me to 2 ounces per meal. That's 2 pepto bismol cupettes full.

thanks...I just read one thing that says at 6 weeks approximately one cup or less and yet a dietition says 1/2 cup and other says more etc. Even the amount of meals is different...OK so I guess I am doing ok. I guess I just worry like most about stretching my pouch.
Today I ate 2 oz of chicken and about 1/4 cup or so of spinach..and 1/4 cup of soy nuts. I will eat my 2 oz of whatever protein for dinner and some veggies. In addition I drink a cup or so of lite soy milk. Does this sound normal.
I was able to eat 1/2 of a stuffed pepper one day and that blew my mind but I was not stuffed I was comfortable and satisfied...it seemed like a lot to me.

This is exactly the reason i listen to ONLY my Bariatric nutritionist. It all gets so confusing!

I don't measure because it depends on what it is how much I can eat. I eat a few bites and wait then eat a few more and wait to see if I'm still hungry. Once you get a feel for how much you can and need to eat it gets easier.

I definitely know when I ate too much, even half a bite! I feellike puking and many times will simply spit out a bite of food mid-chew. It can be a bit gross, especially when eating out. Always keep a napkin around just in case. Even this far out, when you're eating like a normal person, it's easy to forget that you've had surgery. Then, pow!, little tummy says, gotcha! My huibby is 3 1/2 years out and says the same thing happens. We still share one chicken breast between us. Then again, today's breasts are huge to begin with!
