Thanks for the link Bridgette... This is a very important topic and one that I hope everyone will not take lightly. As some of you know, I have never taken iron supplements since my GBP surgery and two months ago, nearly had a nervous breakdown. I also had not had any labs run in over one year. When my labs were finally taken, my hemoglobin count was very low and I have been taking 975mg of ferrous sulfate daily. Now, tell me I do not have to explain what that will do to your system. And I almost got my PS cancelled as it was still just slightly over 8 and the day after surgery had a stat CBC run and had it dropped any lower, would have had to have a transfusion. Luckily, it had gone up .3. On another note, it really doesn't matter what amount of calories you absorb or not (what i mean is don't obsess over percentage numbers). You must eat properly and take your supplements, period. Protein first always!! If you are aware of what your are eating and making healthy choices most of the time, you will not gain your weight back. If you continue to make bad choices all the time, you could gain the weight back. Just remember, this change is for life and you must always treat your new body like you would your newborn. And please have your labs done every 6 months.

Unhappy I confess....I forget!

Oh my goodness......I am HORRIBLE at taking my vitamins! I have had problems since I have had the surgery at reminding myself to take them. Kelly about passed out at my 3 month check up when I told her I always forgot to take them. I really needed this post. Thank you so much Bridget for posting that link for us to read. I am right now off to the kitchen to take my morning vitamins.
Does anyone have suggestions as to when they take them? I think I would take them if I could just take them all at once, but since we have to take them at different times during the day, thats when I start to forget. Any suggestions would be a great help for me!!!!!!!

I will take my vitamins every day and make it a habbit in my daily routine! (someone check up on me )

Muti vitamin. iron and all other supps in the am
Calcium just before you go to bed, or vice versa!
B 12 on Sunday or Saturday. Do it with something else routine, like if you read the Sunday paper, or never miss an episode of Desperate Housewives or whatever, that will help you take your B 12-do it with something you do every week! For me, right now I take it while watching CHARGERS FOOTBALL baby!

I take my vitamins every day when I'm putting on my makeup, so I don't forget! I have made it a habit/ritual in the morning so I don't forget!
So, I promise too!

I like how my chewable vitamins and Viactiv taste, so I take 'em regularly anyway. But I still promise to keep it up.

As for the B-12: Am I only supposed to be taking that once a week??? I've been doing it everyday! My nutritionist only said, "You need to start taking B-12 with your vitamins now" a week ago and I said "OK." I thought she meant daily.

Ezarella, I was taking it daily too. Now I take it every other day and my count for B12 is in the mid-range, so I'm doing something right!
