Default What to bring to a family cookout

Hi,

We are celebrating my Dad's 75th bday this weekend at my sister's house 1 1/2 away from where I live. I have to bring something and need some ideas of foods that I may be able to eat, in case I don't want attempt new foods so far away from home.

I am 8 weeks post op, so I am still a bit nervous about trying new foods when I am not at home. I don't want to bring my own meal, I want to attempt to try smalll amounts of everything there and not feel like the odd person out.

Any ideas of what I can make or bring will be helpful.

thanks
Janice

If you're doing ok with fruit, maybe a plain fruit salad -- just cut up fruit with nothing added. Or just bring a whole watermelon and cut it up there. Sugar free jello with cottage cheese in it?

Good luck!

Janice.
Bring something that you know you can eat. Beans or salad or meat and cheese. That way no matter what there will be something you can eat.

Here is my favorite recipe:

3 boxes of orange sugarfree jell-o mix
1 container of small curd cottage cheese
1 large container of light cool whip
2 can of drained mandrin oranges

Mix dry jell-o with the rest of the ingredients. It's great and goes over well. Also it's high in protein......Enjoy! Kel
