Default Afraid i will eat the wrong thing!

I know i went to class for what i am supposed to eat and not eat, but that was back in March. I am now 16 days PO and i am so afraid when i go to soft foods, or my "normal" diet, i am going to eat the wrong thing not even knowing.
For example, i had no clue we could not take Nyquil. I guess it is full of alcohol sugars??
I have my nutrition book, but it is not specific on certain things. So i am afraid now!
I know i have 1 more week to go before i can even go to the soft food stage but still.

Danette,

Someone described what we go thru as being like a baby again. We have to learn by trial and error. Look at the info your surgeon's office gave you again. Trust me, your body will give you feedback very quickly about what you're eating. If it's the "wrong" thing, you'll know it. You'll be fine, just take it slow, chew, chew, chew and wait between bites. It's really easy to eat too much by eating fast.

I have COPD, and when I used to get sick I was down six weeks with a simple cold, I can honestly say I have only been sick a few times in the 18 months post op, and it was not nearly as bad, and down only a few days. I am pleased with that.

Please go to the main screen of this website and click on gastric bypass then nutrition it has all kinds of helpful information of what to eat and not eat.

Also you may want to attend another class at your doctors office. I am sure they would love to have you come and attend it again.

The problem is that different surgeons say different things so for us to tell you what to eat might not be a good idea.

As for colds, I had a sinus cold a few weeks ago and I didn't have a clue what to take or not take.

Nyquil has alcohol in it. Dr. Callery strongly recommends against alcohol use after WLS.

Ouch! Our surgeon has all the classes and support groups/aftercare included in the fees for surgery.
