Default How much exercise can I do?

I am 7 weeks post op, and trying to do my exercise. I went to the gym two weeks ago, did the treadmill for an 20 min, then some machines, I was very tired and a little light headed after the treadmill.

Today I went to the gym, I did 1 mile on the treadmill, drank my water and felt okay. Then I went on with my routine that I was doing pre op. Some machines and stretches. I started with 5lb hand weights, which was fine, then I did some stomach crunches. After about 30 (pre op, I did about 100), I felt a weird twing in my right side (where 1 insicion was). I stopped immediately. I then tried the chest press machine and after I was done I felt a twinge again. So I stopped for the day all together. I tried calling my dr's office, but they are closed today. I don't think it is important enough to have him paged, because it is not constant pain or discomfort.

When I got home I was going to do some laundry, and again, felt the twinge (so no laundry ), but I am concerned. Could I have done any type of damage?

What types of exercise routines do you follow?

Any advice will be appreciated.
thanks

A twinge sounds like a little pull where there was an incision..but not serious. Severe pain or sharp pains would be worse. Talk to your doctor and see what they say. You may need to take baby steps and just do 15 crunches and gradually work up to more. Remember, you had major surgery and each day is a small step forward. I exericise every other day to rest in between. I also make sure I have a spoonfull of protein (peanut butter etc.) before I exercise. Most trainers insist that you have some protein in you before exercise due to the lack of calories you intake each day and it makes quite a difference in your energy level.
Take care and relax...hey, no laundry today.....Yeah.
