Default bowel problems

Sorry to ask such a delicate type question on this subject but I am 4 weeks out, still eating soft foods as directed and still have watery bowel movements when I do go, usually once a day sometimes twice and not right after I eat most times. It is usually afternoon when it hits and without much warning. I feel very tired and run down after this happens. Does anyone have this same problem, or had it early on when eating soft foods? Again, sorry for being so blunt on such a subject.

What exactly are you eating? Are you having milk? It may be lactose intolerance, try not having milk for a day or 2 or using lactaid milk to see if it helps. I almost ate refried beans that were not fat free that will also give you the runs, too much fat.

Sorry to say that I have always had the opposite problem. I do remember in the first few weeks, I had to always Run to the toilet, but that changed really fast. I know that milk makes people have the runs. I hope it gets better for you.

I had a real problem with tolerating foods after surgery and I had dumping all the time.. and I felt like I had chronic flu. You are probably eating something you can't tolerate. Eliminate all milk products and see if that helps. I had to play around with my diet a lot to figure it out. What it was for me is I was eating too much fruit.. and it was the problem causing me to dump. I cannot eat a whole piece of any fruit at one sitting unless I want to be cleaned out.

Good luck Suzy

Thanks for your help. Last night I realized it might be milk products. I eat mostly tuna, a few veggies, apple sause. I drink soy milk so I have to check if that counts, I have to learn what has lactose. I have had some peanut butter. I have had beans...not sure what it is but I am going to watch closely what I eat.

I had sever IBS pre-op and still have it considerably now, but nothing like before surgery. It is just something I have had to adjust to. I wish you luck.

Well, I am 5 months out and still have emergency bathroom problems at times. Loose bowel movements are constant for me and just a thing I have gotten used to. I usually go between 2-4 times a day. Now do you feel better? Normal...sounds like it is to me! You're fine!

Nikki...thank you. I called my Dr. yesterday and they also said it was normal but most everyone complains of the opposite problem so I thought it was just me. I am a bit tired of my abdomin feeling sore. I feel better having read your post and knowing I am not the only person. The Dr. office said it is not lactose intolance since that was not a problem before not to worry about that. Hopefully we will both get back to what we once knew as normal.
