I was waiting for my hair to start falling out. I had some layers put in and cut off a couple inches about 3 months out. Sure enough at almost exactly 4 months it is coming out by the handfuls. I try not to get too worried because I know it will grow back. This also happened with each of my kids. I just concentrate on the protein and use protein shampoo and conditioner.
I actually am thinking about getting more cut off just because I want a new look. I have lost a bunch of weight and want to switch it up but NOT because I am losing all my hair!!

Default snip snip

I haven't. I just bought Nioxin today and started Biotin earlier this week. I am hoping to slow down the loss. Mine tarted just a few weeks ago but recently I have started to lose a LOT.

Default Cut?

yeah I cut my hair more often...i have drier hair now...but will I cut it off, HEck no! My hair looked pretty bad for a while...I took good care of it, went to hair dresser and bought a really good straitener that actually makes my hair look much healthier. I keep my ends trimmed and use product on it but Im not cuttin' it off. I shed, but I shed before, yes there is hair loss but no one has noticed outside of my family because they see it all over floor and counter in bathroom.

Well, I'm 14 months out, and I did not cut my hair at all. I have a religious conviction against cutting my hair, so it's not even been trimmed since 1992. It went through a phase of looking thin and dry, but has really come back in the last couple of months.

And while I thought I looked half bald, someone at my church actually told me that she was impressed that I didn't seem to have lost any hair, unlike others who have the surgery. Go figure.

Some of the things I did to minimize loss/ encourage regrowth are: Using the best shampoo possible, getting in enough protein, taking Silica from Pilgrims Pride, and scalp massage.

I have a video about how to do a proper scalp massage on my blog. It's made a big difference for me. Heres a link: Hair Loss After Gastric Bypass: Stimulate Regrowth With Scalp Massage

Hope that helps.

Default Hairloss post-op

I have begun with the hairloss myself only 3 months post-op. I had my surgery JUne 9th 2008 and I find my brush full of hair each time I use it.
I am also one who has long hair to my hips and do NOT want to cut it at all. (A promise I made to my mohter before her passing) I hae had hair to my calfs before and chopped it to a bob and don't wish to do that again. I have been usiong shampoos that prevent breakage and split ends. A lil' more expensive but worth it if it doesn't fall out. Most my hair losss is on my crown back behind my bang line I am almost a man with a bald spot wish there was something for that. (just maybe it will return in time) Good luck to each of us !
