My night nurse sucks!
My day nurse was so warm and helpful and this night nurse is acting like I am bothering het. UGH I hope I don't get her tomorrow night. I would love to get some sleep! I am in no pain but I am itchy< I told the nurse at 3 am that I was sooooo itchy. She said talk to my doc about it in the AM. What the?? so I have been itching ever since with no sleep. Nice eh?

Morphine makes a lot of people itch severely, and it needs to be stopped and something else ordered. Remember, that Nurse works for you, and you may hae to demand she call your Doctor, and not wait for morning. Nurses like her give us all such a bad rap! Hopefully you won't have her again, but I woudn't hesitate asking to speak with her supervisor.

I cannot believe her attitude. She is there to help you not to make you think you are a burden.
I too think it's the pain meds, which she should have know right away. Hopefully, you have a good nurse today and don't have the same nurse tonight that you had last night.
I'm happy to hear your not in any pain.

That happens when I take any kind of pain med my itching is to the point of making myself bleed....They tried to give me benedryl with it but it doesn't help....So I tend not to take anything unless I am abslutley desperate...There seems to be nothing I can take and they also make me vomit it 's terrible...

Morphine made me itch too. So does Vicodin. My Dr. sent me home with Tylenol #3 and that doesn't bother me. Hope you get a better nurse tonight, and get some rest today.

when I was at the hospital the nurses at the nurses station really peeved me off, Id call and say I needed to be unhooked and go to the bathroom and nothing, or even calling and saying i needed to be hooked back up and nothing.. I finally learned how to unhook and hook my self back up, I couldnt wait to get out of there

i had the same problem with one of my night nurses.
I would tell your Dr. about it. They want to know! My Dr. thanked me.
They work for you and it is their job.
Hang in there. Hope she is not back tomorrow. If she is, it is ok to ask for another nurse.

I agree with E-Kate. I know Dr. Braverman jumps right on it when his patients aren't getting what they need at hospital. I would ask for the nurse supervisor too.

I had an issue with my care on one of my hospital stays and my wife contacted the "patient advocate" at the hospital. I'm not sure what was said to whom, but there were no more issues.
In your nurses defense, I'm not sure what she could have done for you at 3 am. In order to give you anything for the itching (prescription or not) your doctor would have to approve it.
FWIW, I also get the "itchies" from pain meds (opiate type). However, it seems that the stronger the medication the less I itch. But it also could be that the stronger meds knock me completely out so that I do not notice the itching.
