Default In a little slump

Hey all,
I am writing to vent a little. No one here seems to understand me. I guess being 2 1/2 weeks out, reality is starting to set in. These past couple of days i have not been feeling like myself. I know you shouldnt weigh yourself everyday, but i am just so anxious. I had been losing so much weight, but for the past 3 day i have only lost .5lbs. This is really frustrating seeing that i am hardly eating anything. I dont know what is going on? Is it possible that my body is trying to stop losing weight? I am just in a a funk, and am dying to get out of it. I should be thrilled that the painful part of surgery is over and that i am starting my new life, shouldn't i? I keep telling myself that as bad as things seem now, they are not even close to how things were or would have been if i had not made the decision to have gb. I guess i just thought that after surgery things would just be a bed of roses, quess i was wrong!
I feel much better after getting this all down on paper. It has been building up inside of me. I am so happy that i have joined this forum. Everyone on here is amazing , and are truly inspiring. I can't tell you how great it feels to go onto the site and see so many others feel the same way i feel. Thank you all so much!

Ashley,
You know this surgery is a life changing experience.Being 2.5 weeks out Im sure your going thru alot of emotions,I know I did.Your weight WILL come off.The first 6mo you will lose ALOT.Just stick with your Dr's program and you will do fine.I went thru the same feelings.Only check that scale once a week.It will mess with your head.I was checking my weight more than once a day & I was driving myself NUTZ Now I only check it once a week.Im telling you it will help.Your weight changes from day to night.
Eat that protein, take your vitamins, start your new lifestyle and that weight will fall off.You will be be a big loser too.....

Be patient Ashley! It will happen! Being only 2 1/2 weeks out is very early and you must remember your body has been through a lot of trauma and is getting used to your new pouch. Every few weeks, I hit a slump and don't lose for a period of time, then all of a sudden, I start dropping again. Sometimes your body goes into a starvation mode and tries to hold onto everything it is given. If you can, keep your protein up and drink lots of protein shakes. Once I started drinking shakes, my body began losing very fast since the protein helps heal the cells and was helping calm my stomach by coating it. I have averaged a loss of 20 lbs. a month since April and I'm in a slump once again. I need to start my protein shakes again and get back on track! Good luck to ya and just be patient! It will happen...and SOON!

I drink Met RX protein shakes from GNC (General Nutrition Center). And TRY THEM before you buy a big tub of it. I was buying the ready-made shakes at first, but they were pretty expensive so I switched to a powder mix instead that can be blended with milk. I think they taste pretty good (kind of like a slim fast) and I usually buy the vanilla or chocolate. It's a trial and error thing! Go to a nutrtion store and buy a can of each kind and try them. I was supposed to have at least 50 grams of protein a day, and one shake had 40, so that was good. Also, ask your DR. if it is ok to start shakes now. Some doctors like you to wait a little while before starting them. Good luck my dear!

Throw The Scale Away. Before Wls I Could Never Get Past 390, I Sat There For A Year, After Surgery For Two Weeks I Sat At 390. Our Minds Have As Much To Do With This As Our Bodies, Watching A Scale Everyday Day Messes With Your Head. When I Relaxed About 390, I Waited My One Week And Went To Way Myself And Had Droped To 378, The Feeling Was Incredible. I Suggest Finding A Scale Outside Your Home And Only Seeing It Once A Week. Less Stress On Your Head. Plus You See Overall Results, Not The Ups And Downs Of Daily Scale Obsession. Just A Thought. I Bet More Of Us Understand Your Feelings Than You Think.

Hi Ashley, all of us know how you feel that is why this forum is so great. I am on my 7th week and down 26 Lbs. Girl I would have loved to lose 23 in the first couple weeks. You have almost passed me up. I was stressing about my loss(see losing slow) too but as everyone says, everyone is different and don't compare yourself to others. The best thing you can do is have your husband or anyone hide your scale and only give it back once a week at the most. I think that is even to often. "Out of sight out of mind". It has made such a difference because I know I don't have a choice and I just gave up on it. The other day I went through some capris I haven't been able to wear in two years or so and every one of them fit me. Base your loss on clothes, find a pair of pants that you can put on but not button without sucking in and track how long it takes you to be able to button them. I bet you will be suprised. Your loss is amazing don't get discouraged and another thing I always lose slow about a week before my period if I lose at all, and then about 3 days after my period is over "SWOOSH" I am usually pleased. So think if its time for your period maybe thats why? Tina

Thumbs up

Ashley STEP AWAY FROM THAT SCALE and get rid of it! Get a tape measure and measure your waist once a week. I can assure you I'm losing at least a half to an inch a week off my waist. If that is the case it's coming off other areas.

I'm two months out.. trust me it will happen.

I know exactly how you are feeling. I went through the same thing. Sometimes I still feel that I am behind the 8 ball so to speak and that I will stop losing and I will never make it to goal . I am learning to take it one day and sometimes one meal at a time. I weight myself once a week on my Mom's scale. I am going to be PMSing next week so I may skip weighing myself altogether, when you don't see it moving as fast as you like it will upset you as I know it does me. But as I said one day at a time.
