Default quick question?

HEy all,

I have a quick question for all of you. Is it normal to feel like there is something stuck in my chest after eating. I know i am very new to solids, so i am not sure if i am eating too fast or if it is normal in the begining. I am chewing so many time. I have never really tasted food like i am tasting it now!

p.s. I know there was a post i put out and there were a couple of people my age that wanted to talk, but i cant seem to find them. If you get this...leave me a post and we can chat!

You had your surgery done before me and I am having the same feeling when I eat so I would assume that it is normal.

Default learning process

After my surgery and once I started solid foods, I made sure I measured everything I ate and made sure that it took me 20-30 minutes to eat my 4 ounces of food. Some foods went down easier than others and some foods I got fuller faster. It is a learning process and will take some getting used to. If you are eating slowly and chewing well, then you are doing as you should. I'm still learning...just this morning I had eaten a few chips (yes, bad..I know..) and five minutes later took a drink of milk in order to wash down some tylenol, and, of course, I had to run to the bathroom and vomit since I overfilled my pouch too fast. Haven't done that in a while! So, I am also STILL learning what I should and shouldn't do. I have to remember to not get TOO CONFIDENT and remember the rules or face consequences!

The reason it feels like your chest hurts is because they actually attch your lil pouch to your diaphram. So when it gets full or too full the pain feels like it is there. REF: Dr C and Dr P practice.

Default didn't know

I sure didn't know that....but now it makes sense. I have yet to see a good picture that looks exactly like what my stomach looks like now. Do different doctors in different parts of the world do different variations of the surgery. My support lady was trying to tell me that some do smaller pouches than others.

I get that full feeling when I've eaten too fast. I am having a terrible time adjusting to the small bites and the chew chew chew. It's cold by the time you're finished eating and it taste like mush by the time you're finished chewing. One day I wanted a big bite so bad I just did it and then spit it out.
My therapist told me to do something relaxing before I eat like meditate or read scripture. I'm not sure about her yet. He he

I'll get that avatar on eventually.

Thanks for the info.

That stuck feeling happens. I'm almost 6 mos out and still have it occasionally. I warm my meals in the microwave about half way through cause I hate cold food. The more practice you get eating the easier it gets!

Default Interesting

I didn't know that for sure, but it was my hunch that the pouch was some where near the diaphram because when I eat my chest hurts. I can't eat much before that happens.. and so be it. It stops me from overeating anything. One thing I haven't done is overfill my pouch. Thank god I haven't had to throw anything up.. it's always gone the other way in a real fast way LOL Suzy
