Smile 2 weeks out and feeling great

I can't believe that just two weeks ago I was laying in the hospital! I am exactly 2 weeks out today and feel pretty damn good...considering I've been through a major surgery. I started going back to the gym on Monday, I'm already down 30lbs

My major complaint is that I cannot sleep, I have never been comfortable sleeping on my back. Not sure how to fix this problem???

Oh well, just wanted to give you guys an update.

Thumbs up Wow!

Wow Angela,

Good job on the weight loss! I am two weeks and two days out and I think I'm only down 20 lbs. I'm not sure because my scale kind of sucks. I need to buy a digital one. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with 20 lbs.

I've been working out since Monday also. It feels good. What is your work out schedule like? How many times per week and for how long? What machines are you working out on?

So, you are having trouble sleeping? Are we supposed to ONLY sleep on our backs? I don't get it. I haven't been doing that.

Default exercise

both of you are too early out to be exercising except for cardiovascular such as walking. i know i was open and was told not to exercise for six weeks at the gym.

Default Dear Melanie

Melanie,

Don't worry. All I'm doing is walking on the treadmill or the eliptical for 30 minutes. That's it. Is that too much?

Angela,
I am only a week out with terrible back pain. Since I had a prior back injury, it really hurt to be on my back so long on the operating table. I found the only way I can sleep is in my recliner with a pillow wedged behind my back.
I am glad to hear you are doing so well.

Stacie,
You sound like you are doing great, too. I hope I feel like you girls do in another week.

Hope to meet both of you soon,

I'm only doing cardio @ the gym. I was told that I could go back to a full workout w/ the exception of abs in 4 weeks. No abdominal exercise for 8 weeks.

Dale, I had severe shoulder pain after my surgery it lasted like 5 days then went away. Dr. Potts said it was from laying on the operating table.

Stacie, I was never told not to sleep on my stomach or side, it's just painful. When I get up from laying on my side, I have a pain in my lower left ab area.

In a few more weeks you'll be able to sleep on your side again. I used pillows and such to try and cradle my body. I've never been a back sleeper. I think it was about 4 weeks before I could side sleep. The early days are already fading, so I can't exactly remember.

Talking Another two-weeker

I had my surgery two weeks ago tomorrow. I feel so much better! I'm hating the binder, but other than that I'm feeling pretty good. I have to wait to get the goahead to drive before I go to the gym. I'm not going to weight myself at home. It makes me too crazy, but my dh and I agree I look a bit thinner.

You all are doing great. Thanks for the inspiration about the gym!!!!

Smile Hey Angela

Wassuup.

Glad to hear you doing good!

I'm three weeks today and i have been sleeping on my side for several nights. I never have a problem sleeping. All my friends know I am out like a light sometimes starting at 10pm. (it makes for humorous episodes of my friends messing with me while I'm out).

Maybe you should call Kelly and she can reccommend a sleep aide if possible.

I don't know what my weight is as my scale only goes up to 265, but I go see my PCP tomorrow. He wanted to check me out after the surgery, so I 'll weigh my self there and put iton my signature.

Since I am three weeks noe, I kicked up my exercise and walked my first whole mile in one stint this morn. I am thinking of turning to swimming in the morn but gotta find a pool to go to.

Quick question to you and all who were at our post op meeting with Kelly:

Did she say we can have chicken at this point? I thought she did but haven't since it's not on our time list.

See Ya

Thumbs up Hey Gerry

This is Stacie. I was at our post op meeting with Kelly.

Ummm, Angela and I remember Kelly saying we can have chicken at this point.

Woody says we can try it, but be careful that it is not over cooked.

So, I tried it today. I barbque'd pollo adobado. I cut it up in small pieces and had it with a little refried beans. It totally agreed with me. Not much does, so I was surprised.

Try it.
