Default YIKES! First dumping experience!

My husband picked up seafood bisque to go with the porgie and sea bass I was making for dinner he had caught the night before. I had about a 1/2 cup mostly I picked out the pieces of shrimp, lobster and crabmeat with just a little broth. About 10 minutes after dinner my heart started racing and I felt weak and nauseous. I had to lay down for about an hour untill it passed. Thank GOD he was home to get the kids cleaned up teeth brushed and into bed. I have no idea what kind of sugar would be in soup but man I do not want to do that again!

It is a medium size fish. Light flakey meat very tender.. They put up quite a fight though

You would have done better to have eaten the seafood and not the broth. Generally bisque has lots of fat and and cream, so it can make you quite sick. It's not only sugar that will make you dump.

One of the worst dumps I ever had was on soup. Lentil to be exact. I think because it had a lot of fat in it. The grease can get us just as much as the sugar.

Welcome tp the club!!

Thank you Marie and Rain, I am so careful about sugar and fried foods that I never gave it a second thoiught, my bad! Probably had a LOAD of butter in it too! There is a place here in Ronkonkoma that makes the bisque but it is a clear broth, I will be getting that next time!

You are looking hot! You know I don't mean that in a weird way! I have trouble with rich foods (creamy, butter, and no way on fried stuff). I know it is a terrible feeling but you kinda have to live and learn. I do really well with fish and shrimp. Good source of protein and usually (depends on the prep) pretty low in cals.

Thank you so much Amber! You know I didn't even give it a second thought because when I was early post op I was having cram soups BUT they were fat free or low fat! I will know better next time! Not a feeling I liked having.

Default You know what gets me

One of the first times I dumped was on Potato Soup. Got me with the fat AND the carbs from the potatoes! because of that not only do I have to consider fats when I eat the cream stuff but also the carb element as well.
Just like milk. I can have about 3 oz of milk then I dump. I cant eat 2 Oreo's and do okay, but if I have 2 Oreos and a little milk, about 2 oz I dump. So be careful to think about when you eat something and what else is in it... does that make sense?
