Question Bouncing Weight?

Hi all!

I am about 5 months out. For the past few months, I have noticed a trend when I get on the scales...

Day 1 - I'll suddenly drop 3 - 4 lbs.
Day 2 - I'll gain those pounds back, plus maybe one.
Day 3, 4, 5, etc. - I'll slowly drop those pounds again until around day 5 or 6, I'm back at the weight showing on day 1.

I just find it really odd that this happens repeatedly. I don't have a trend where I steadily lose (or even gain). I do this weird bouncing thing back and forth between losing, gaining and then losing that same weight.

Does anyone know what's going on?? Maybe the medical reason? Or a way to prevent it? Or maybe it's just me?

I am getting in my protein and water as well as taking all my vitamins. (I do sometimes wonder though if I am getting enough to eat... I find it hard to eat past a certain point.)

(By the way, I was trying not to get on the scales every day, but once I figured out this was happening, I've been trying to track it closely by weighing most every day. I just think it's kind of weird!)

As always, thanks to all of you for your help!!

Traci~ We are about the same surgery frame..I have a week on you.I have lost very steady...right now I will not lose any weight and then I will be down 5 lbs.
I personnaly feel like MY weightloss has been too rapid,I worry about when does your body know when to stop?

I have had to do Some shopping and in the last month I have gone from an 18 down to a 14...with only about 10 lbs lost.So I am a firm believer in the no weight loss but inches gone .

Good Luck~

I'm a firm believer of the inches too!! I have gone from wearing a size 20 stretch jeans to a 16 strech. Before when I weighed under 200 I would be a size 16 and now weighing in at 211 the 16's fit fine. It's wierd I tell ya.

You will cycle monthly as part of your female cycle. A lot of it may have to do with water retention.

I am doing the exact same thing. It isn't part of my cycle though because don't have the parts for all that.

But I am going up down up up up down down up down down. and so on.

It is driving me insane. Today up cuz I worked it out at the gymn yesterday lifting weight and stuff. So up is a muscle thing.

People are telling me I am looking thinner and thinner. So measurements are due in a couple of days. I measure myself once a month. My husband love to help.

So many reasons.. water weight gain, menstration, just stuff. The one thing I can suggest is to GET OFF YOUR SCALE EVERYDAY! Am I gonna have to drive over there and take it from you? I have done this in the past you know.

Try weighing yourself once a week, THATS IT! Its less maddening, I promise!

Lightbulb It's all normal

I know that I do the same thing and have for almost a year now.. (so from about 5-6 months out for me) I am stable and healthy and below mine and my Doctors goal for my weight so I think you don't have anything to worry about. However, everyone is different and therefore if you are uncomfortable or think it may be medically related then you should consult your physician.

As far as the scale thing, well I am with ya on that one too.. I weigh myself every day still. The reason is that if I do gain a few pounds overnight or whatever.. and the next day I am down two of those pounds then I know I am ok.. but if I see a trend where I am continuing to gain or that I haven't lost those pounds back then I know that I am in trouble.. I don't want to wait until I have gained back 10, 15, or God forbid 20 lbs before I get back on track ya know?

Do what works for you.

Good luck..

The scales will drive you INSANE if you let it.I was weighing myself more than once a day.It would go up & down as well.Your weight changes from day to night.I have trained myself to only weigh myself once a week, for me its sundays. Then I dont freak everytime I look at the scale.
The scale didnt move for 4mo but the inches were falling off so check your measurements. Its probably falling off and the scale just messing with ya

Default Back Away From The Scales!

okay honey back away from those scales! Do not I repeat do not weigh yourself every day or you will make yourself crazy! Get a tape measure and measure your inches every week if your going to drive yourself. You will see inches coming off and know that it's working. I would put your scales in the trash or give it to the next door neighbor, and just weigh at the doctors office. This is just my two cents! Suzy

Okay, my scales are going in the closet and I'll try to forget about them for a week at a time.

I have never in my life wanted to get on scales until now. It's so good not to be scared of them!

Thanks to all of you for your info, support and kicking me in the pants!
