Unhappy 3 Weeks out -29 lbs and gagging on my protein shake......

What the heck!! I can't drink my protein shake anymore. I was having two per day, until 2 days ago. My pouch hates it now. How could that happen. I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

My pouch is turning against me. I hate food, I hate my protein shake, and I think I'm losing too fast.

Kimmy is is only protein shake that you can't keep down or is it everything. Everything is bad, Protein shake's are fixable. If it is just protein shakes than you may just need to change them to do them without milk or change from whey to soy or visa versa. Or I tried protein bars. It took me hours to nibble one down but at least I got my protein in. I am not 7 months out and still can not eat a whole one so don't try that. Not even the little ones.

But let us know what's going on!!!!!!! You may have a serious problem and may need to see the doctor.

Just also know that you body and pouch will change as you go along. Stuff you can eat today will make you sick tomorrow. You body has undergone a radicle change and it will continue to adjust so you have to learn to adjust with it. Don't fight it cuz that wont work.

Hang in there and tell us what going on.

Sorry for not providing all the info. You ladies are great.

I can't get my revival shake down anymore. I can eat, but I don't want to. It makes me feel sick to my stomack. I'm not getting hunger pains and I just don't want to eat. There's no benefit in having 3 tablespoons of anything. I feel full and nausea. Maybe I should go back to liquids. I don't know what to do.

I'm only having problems w/ my shake. I'm taking revival soy strawberry and I just ordered $145 dollars worth of shakes. What a mistake!!

In addition, I take my shake w/ water. Not milk! and I can get my water down. Although it's been considerably less in the last two day.

My suggestion is this and remember it is only a suggestion.

Don't put so much pressure on yourself. If you are stressed out about eating, eating won't work. I found this out by eating around my biggest dog Moses. He would beg so bad that it stressed me out that I couldn't eat. One or two bites and in the trash it went.

We are so used to having food be a satisfying fullfilling need provider it is hard to adjust to eating smaller amounts. Your 3-4 bits are just as important to eat as a baby needed milk ever couple of hours.

Shakes - I would see if I could return them. Or at least, all but one of the containers for now. Most places will let you return things.

Other idea - drink liquids for 1-2 days and see if your stomach calms down. Then go back to normal again.

But stress could be the number one issue here. (not with the protein shakes) but with the food. Make your 3-4 bits pleasant and enjoyable. Pamper yourself with them. Make a candle lite dinner with your 3-4 bites. I know it sounds insane but you deserve to be treated great and you deserve to treat yourself with respect and love.

Also, are you taking any acid reducers like zantac or anything like that. They are my life savers. If I don't take mine even to this day I get burning and nauseaed. So maybe that could be another option.

Relax, chew well and enjoy.

Thanks for that advice. I really need answers. I appreciate you taking the time out. I know some of these newbie questions, you've heard over and over. I will speak for all the newbies, we APPRECIATE YOU GUYS!!!

I will try to take some of the shakes back and change my attitude about food. I'm sure it's going to take some time.

I go back to work next week and I hope some of these issues will be resolved. I haven't told anyone at work about the surgery. But since I'm losing so much weight I might have to share. Oh well!!

Yes, Barbara is right! RELAX! You are experiencing food anxiety which may be making it hard to eat and drink. I went through that for awhile and finally calmed myself down. I was just so nervous about eating the wrong thing, eating too much, eating too fast, etc. If it is not food anxiety, then something else may be going on. Remember, your body and stomach are still adjusting and figuring out what's "good and bad" for them. Some become lactose intolerant, etc. I was a lucky one and can still have milk, even though I've heard some foods change on people later on. I CANNOT have rice...figured that out quickly! Good luck and we're rootin' for ya!

I experienced the same thing only I couldn't gag down the protein shakes to begin with. Everything I ate or drank would make me nauseated, and then not only that but I would experience dumping with everything. That started at about 2 weeks, and continued through 6 weeks. I was getting really scared to death because I have lost 45 lbs, and felt like I was not going to be able to eat anything. Well I started to calm myself down because everytime I would go to eat something my head would say oh here we go again you're going to get sick. Inevitably I started to turn the corner about six days ago and started branching out and eating diff protein sources like some EAS protein bars, string cheese, turkey slices and my stomach has accepted it all. I stopped the chronic dumping and I'm even able to drink fluids have been getting down almost 32 oz a day of water and today I'm drinking some crystal light with my liquid vitamins in it and haven't been able to tolerate any vitamins yet so be patient and try not to put too much pressure on yourself. Take care Suzy
