help-kinda gross
I am a week post-op and my bowels started to move normally last weekend. This changed. For the past 3 days I have had the runs. Is this normal? Could it be the cream soups? I feel great when I have the creamed soups. Is my digestive system just spasing out? Should I call Kelly?

yummy
Dale,
Personally I think it is normal. However, I can't say so for sure because I am not a doctor. If you really are concerned call the Dr. office to be reassured. My first bowel movement woke me out of a dead sleep at 2:18 AM six days post op and it didn't stop for 24 hours.. I was miserable. However, I still have diarrhea bouts. I think it's normal but make sure whenever you have diarrhea that you are taking in plenty of fluids. It could be the cream soups.. remember we got re-wired so to speak and some things may not sit well with you. Did you check the sugar content on the soup? Could it be that you are lactose intollerant now? These are things you should try to figure out. Sorry I couldn't help better then that. I am sure many more will have better answers so please don't just take my word for it. Hope you feel better soon girlfriend..

Its normal
Your bowels may be irregular for some time. Some days I go great, somedays I have to run to the restroom.... count on that being unpredictable... however if you arent going at all that's a problem. The longest I went without "going" was 3 days. If your stopped up longer than that I suggest calling the office.

Dale,
I had exactly the same thing happen to me. The first week everything was normal and then all hell broke loose, so to speak. As time passed, I had less and less of a problem with the runs. I tried to figure out which foods cause this problem, but there seems to be no exact answer. Even at 8 and 1/2 months out I still occasionally experience this, though the episodes are fewer and farther between. However, like Bridgetgirl, when Stuart's body decides it's time to go, IT'S TIME TO GO!!! I guess this is just a complication of having your innards rewired. If you are having other problems such as passing blood or severe pain, call the office immediately! Dale, good luck and take care.

Thanks girls. I had a lacto problem before surgery, so I mix the cream soups with water.
I see Kelly tomorrow and will tell her everything.
Bridge and Christina, you are so quick to help me out. I already feel better.
Thanks!

I was p***ing out my butt for 2 days straight before it became normal. As a young woman, I'm on iron supplements which slooows the gut down and makes everything a green-black color. Some days nice and soft, other days it's a chunk of brick.
Now how's that for gross?

I had the runs for about a week after surgery....now...I am lucky if I go once every 3 days or so.....it's all good though ...everything is coming out just fine! <LOL>
Everyone is different but I am sure what you are experiencing is totally normal.
