Default Cottage Cheese has made me feel human again!

I decided today that I was going to be a rebel and eat some cottage cheese. I mushed it up really well in my mouth before swallowing it, and man - I felt good! I ate about 2 spoonfuls and stayed full for about an hour - not bad full, good full!

It won't be long before you'll be eating real food again. I ate cottage cheese early out and loved it too. I'm a blue cheese lover and would mash some of that up with it and found it yummy. I also like it with a little hot sauce or cinnamon sprinkled on it. Try different flavorings and seasonings on it too.

I'm thinking of trying the cottage-cheese pancakes from the recipe section. I am NOT a fan of cottage cheese, but my new life started on 10/22/2009 - time to try new things!

I was thinking of trying them, but the ladies recommended not trying those as part of the pureed/soft stage.

As soon as I'm on normal foods, I'm diving into those!

I had shared a recipe book with Brandnewme the other day that I purchased.

It isn't bad, but it does have many new ideas for those of us just beginning those baby steps back to regular diets.

It is called Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery. Has 140 Low-fat, High-protein recipes from week to years out.

The cool thing is that each recipe comes with recommendations for each major type of WLS, as well as serving sizes/instructions for all stages from 1 week to Full foods.

It's a great way to kind of point to some variety--as well as some ideas. The sauce section for instance is a great way to perhaps enhance some of the things that may have become boring for even long-timers.

Just a thought if you'd like to check it out!

Yahoohey. my first real food!!!!
I bought a freshly cooked Turkey breast-(I do not cook). I cut tiny pieces off and chopped them up. I took a small chunk of 75% reduced fat soft cheese and a tablespoon of pureed beets and ate like a nervous bird. Chewed til pureed and voila! No discomfort! Yahoohey!
I feel like there is some hope for normalcy after all!
I also found a ton of vegan stuff with loads of protein at the grocery store which I will explore this week, including a "ground beef" that is 100 % vegetarian and very high in protein.

I wasn't in to cottage cheese pe-WLS but now, barely a day goes by when I don't eat it.

Great straight up with some cinnamon mixed in (plus splenda if wanted).
With fruit - chopped peaches, pineapple or cantelope melon especially.
Mixed with some ff Ranch Dressing - blended up wanted - great with raw veggies.
Add some sf preserves (Polaners blackberry or cherry) is good, same with sf honey.
With canned tuna - good pureed in the early stages.
Cottage cheese and salsa.
With chopped nuts.
Mixed with chopped pickles....mmmmm!

AND last - cottage cheese and sf lime jello. I kid you not - it is fantastic.

I have never liked cottage cheese. I wish I did. It's so good for you. I had hoped I might start liking it after my surgery, and I did eat it a couple times, but no, still don't care for it.

Except I put it in lasagna. Mixed up with ricotta cheese and shredded mozzarella. But it doesn't taste like cottage cheese then. And no, I don't make lasagna very much any more.

I never liked Cottage cheese pre-WLS. I am scared to try it now. I need to just get over myself and try it.

I use cottage cheese instead of ricotta now. I just put it through the blender and then dump it into a sieve lined with a coffee filter to strain out some of the whey. Certainly cheaper than ricotta and as I generally mix it with parmesan and mozzarella, I can't notice much of any difference.

I like blending it with some milk and sf syrup. Makes an nice protein drink.
