It's my understanding that losing weight, regardless of how you lose it, usually has a positive effect on diabetes. However, I don't think the sleeve has a high a percentage for resolving diabetes as RNY. It's my understanding that somehow cutting the intestine affects the diabetes, although I don't know why that would be. But there was some study with mice that they made diabetic and then they cut their intestines and it had an effect on the diabetes. Eh, I'll google and see if I can find the study.

Yeah, I don't recall the studies either, but supposedly cutting the stomach usually has a positive effect on the diabetes.
Me, my surgery had a completely different affect right off.. mine went well over 400 that first night and it took a few months to show a positive change. I only mention this, so that those that don't see one right away don't give up..
And I do think you're right.. weight loss has a positive affect all by itself. My husband is a T2 diabetic and his was greatly improved by losing 100lbs by diet and exercise alone.

Diabetes
My surgeon asked me to move my endocronologist appt out a month (was 2 weeks after surgery) to give my blood sugars a chance to settle before being reviewed.

It's almost 4 years so I don't remember all the dosages I was on. This is what I do remember though:
Lipitor-off
Hydrochlorathiazide-now every other day
Potassium-now every other day
Atenolol-off
Verapamil-off
Cozaar-off but recently restarted at a much lower dose
Glucophage-off
Metformin-off
Avandaryl-off
C-PAP-off

Thanks
I'm afraid I did have to go back on a blood pressure medication last August. But that really didn't surprise me. I have an extensive family history of high blood pressure. So for now I am back on Cozaar at 25mg. So its pretty low dose.

I was told by one of the surgeons that if my blood pressure corrects itself, It is likely to return around 4-5 years later. She did not explain any more than that. I think this is something I will question them about when I go in again.

Yes, please do. Some would depend on how long the blood pressure was high, I would think? Maybe?
Prior to mid-2000 I normally was on the low side, but there were some significant life changes that caused my blood pressure to soar and I was put on meds at that point, only to stay on them until just after my surgery in 2008.
I'd be really curious to know what the research shows as to why it returns, particularly if we keep our weight lower.
