I LOVE hot and spicy foods. I'm more of a habanero pepper person than a jalapeno though.
I eat Cabot's habanero Cheese, my salsa is a habanero salsa, I add habanero and jalapeno peppers to my chili.. yummm..
I was never given any restriction on spiciness post op.. but of course, I didn't try them early out at all.. now- the hotter the better!

I like spicy as well, and 2 weeeks out I am doing OK with it. A few shots of Taparisco in my tomato soup (or chicken soup) or taco coup - all nicely pureed - and it tastes great! My physician says if my stomach is OK with it, he is too!

While I have problems a year out with meat and fish... I have NO problems with jalepena peppers... I eat about a jar of these a week, the hotter the better, with no problems...

yup, I eat mild to hot salsa every day. No problems. My daily intake always includes fat free refried beans, salsa and cheese. Nuked of coarse.

I would just make sure you are far enough out from surgery to not risk irritating still healing wounds with the hot stuff. Thars oils in them thar peppers!

Good point, Ardita, about waiting far enough after surgery to make sure you've healed enough for your pouch to be able to safely able to tolerate hot and spicy food.
I think I was about 8 months out before I tried my first Jalapena (ahhh. what BLISS!) since my surgery. Since I have such MAJOR problems with almost any kind of meat or fish (except eggs)...I figured I was asking for it by trying a jalapena pepper (a whole, pickled one, at that!). I was totally bowled over when I didn't have ANY problems or reactions (other than the typical ones after eating a hot pepper).
It's really odd what foods can and cannot be tolerated after this surgery....
An avid carnivore pre-surgery, I'm now a semi-vegatarian after the surgery. Meat and fish just sit in my pouch like a brick for HOURS... I feel so uncomfortable after eating meat/fish that I've developed an aversion to it... Even small amounts make me uncomfortable.... I used to LOVE shrimp...now the thought of trying to eat it makes me cringe.
I now live off of yogurt, cheese, fresh fruit, jalepena peppers, nuts, steamed veggies and eggs.
