We are having halibut for dinner tonight. I have never had it but I certainly hope it goes down well!
hlibut is great but really filling...atleast for me 5 months post op. I can have a few bits but thats it..it really takes on the flavor of whatever you season it with. mmm

Are the crackers gonna kill you? Most likely no. But you should be focusing on protein right now? Are these little crunchy boogers a good source of that?

If not I would personally suggest stepping away from them. Pouch space is much to valuable to waste it on calories you dont need.

And the way my surgeon explained the crackers being a soft food is that once they get in your pouch they become moist and compact down. Much in the same way popcorn becomes.

I was allowed toasted bread and crackers at about 6 weeks out.

Unfortunately, for me, 1 cracker leads to another one and the whole thing just escalates.

For bored teeth, I'd recommend chewing on raw veggies/fruit as soon as you're cleared by your surgeon/NUT.

CRACKERS!!!??? Remember Deborah? She calls them "the devil".

If you have to crunch, eat a dill pickle!

I, too, have a nasty addiction to crackers - club crackers to be exact. I know why they spell them CRACKers! I can't stop until a whole tube is gone, so it's better not to have them in the house.

My nut recommends Kashi. They tend to be lower in sugars and higher in protein that any of the others.

I have been out nearly five years, and have spent time with many post ops. Crackers have been the undoing for so many! Bad bad bad! I have some once in a while - they were not my sore spot, but I tread carefully. I don't eat one without the knowledge that they have been the downfall of many a post op. I recommend using other things to hold your protein trimmings, like cucumber rounds or crisp lettuce leaves.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I LOVE dill pickles and usually use dill relish in my tuna soooo... maybe I will hollow out a pickle a bit and add the tuna!

The cucumber idea sounds good too but cucumbers didn't like me post op so I'm a little worried about trying them yet.

I do appreciate all of the information. I think crackers will go on the backburner for now.

Oh, and the halibut was good but VERY filling! I really don't think I got but a few bites in and I was finished.

pickles do evil things to my stomach... seems like most fruits and veggies with "skins" do (tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, etc).

I eat crackers on occasion; I feel like they help settle my stomach sometimes. but I don't think I'd ever trust myself to have a box of them sitting around my apartment waiting to be snacked on.

Default forget crackers

If you want a protein crunch, Quick Weight Loss centers have some cool supplements that are crunchy soy protein rings that look like cheerios. Available in several flavors. Prob not till you're on a full diet tho.

Definitely forget crackers. They will cause you a big setback. Almost certainly. Forget carbs. Killers.

Focus on Protein, water and walking.
