Ibuprofen
Renee:
I DO take Ibuprofen occasionally--the key word is "occasionally." I asked Dr. Callery about it because nothing else works for my severe cramps. He said that occasional use of a very small dose would be okay. Therefore, I take as little as possible for as short a period of time as possible. For example, I might take 200mg a couple of times a day for one or two days a month. That's it. The rest of the month I take OTC extra-strength Tylenol for aches and pains. I do have a prescription for Vicodin for severe sinus/allergy headaches as needed. I now take one-half a tablet maybe once or twice a month when my headaches get out of control.
I know that you should really limit your usage of Ibuprofen because of the risk of ulcers. But, according to Dr. Callery, it's not off-limits entirely.
