Default Gall Bladder Questions

Am I the only one post op with a gall bladder still? My doc was gonna take it out when he did my wls but I had a fatty tumor on my intestine that needed to be removed (it was nothing but could have caused trouble down the road) so he did that and left my gall bladder. So, for about 2 weeks I have had these weird pains on my right side. Went to my primary doc Friday and had an ultrasound today. I'm hurting way worse now so the doc called in some darvocet to get me by until he gets the test results back. I know nothing about the medical field but when the tech was going through my ultrasound pics there were a bunch that she had placed red and blue spots on and some that were just regular. I may just be reading too much into it but I'm really nervous. My Grandad had a horrible gall bladder removal. He waited until he thought he was having a heart attack (pain on the opposite side) and had emergency surgery with a horrible incision and drain tubes because by this time it had ruptured. I really don't want to have to have it removed but the pain is getting worse as I type and I may not have any results until Wednesday. Any advice you guys might have would be great!!!!

I had to have my gallbladder removed 5 years ago. The pain for me was right in the middle...not on the right. Anywho, if you do need to get it out it is not that bad. They did it lap and I was back at work after a week.

Thanks for the reassurance! I just had wls in February and didn't want to have anymore surgery until my TT (hopefully around x-mas) but I'll do what I have to. I have a lot of pain in my back and I'm feeling pretty nauseated and weak.

I still have my gall bladder. I asked my surgeon if he was going to have to take it out and he said there's nothing wrong with it, we'll leave it in.

I had my gallbladder out about 15 years ago......the attacks were the worst pain I have ever experienced. I would have rather had my 9 & 10 lb babies back to back than to go thru that again. I got my a$$ chewed out by the ER doctor because I had my attack in the wee hours of a Sat morning and didn't go to ER til monday when the pain wouldn't go away. I had one more attack while I was waiting for surgery and they took me right thru ER without paperwork and immediately gave me a shot of morphine for the pain. I was not able to have it done laprascopically because one of my stones was the size of an avocado pit and then had about 15 the size of my pinkie nail. It sucked! It did make it easier for my WLS to go thru though. Good luck.

I had mine taken out when I was 18.. I would wake up in the middle of the night with horrible chest pain.. of course I had to take a shower before I could go to the hospital. After 11 trips to the ER with "indigestion"... What do you know I was having gallbaldder attacks....(i asked for an ultrasound of my gallbladder.. and it was enlarged...) So all those late night attacks.. were really gallbladder attacks!

I had it removed lap.. no problems.. back to work in a week.
Watch eating anything fatty.. that always set mine off.. Expecially meat and cheese!

My doctor didn't take mine out, he said it was fine. He did put me on Actigal which is a medicine that reduces the chance of getting gall stones when losing weight so rapidly.
