Default Couple of questions, ok lots of them

I cannot find a list of things to bring to the hospital. I dont know what to search for.
Is there a specific type of chicken, or beef broth that i should buy? Does one have more protein then others?
Where do you peeps buy your vitamins from? I was told about Bariatric Advantage, but i wonder if i have to buy them forever from there?
What vitamins do you get? Brands?
During the first 2 weeks while on liquids, did any of you add protein to your chicken broth? I was thinking about getting some Any Whey tastless stuff to add to my broth. What do you think? Will my tummy tolerate protein supp's in the first 2 weeks?
I am also curious how many weeks after surgery did you feel you could have gone back to work? Mainly to those of you who have sit down jobs.
Sorry for all the question, but i figure i would just ask them all at once.

I cannot find a list of things to bring to the hospital. I dont know what to search for. Bring personal hygiene things for day two. Have chapstick for sure.
Is there a specific type of chicken, or beef broth that i should buy? I purchased Campbells. Does one have more protein then others? You'll need to read the lables.
Where do you peeps buy your vitamins from? I was told about Bariatric Advantage, but i wonder if i have to buy them forever from there? I buy them at Wal-mart or wherever vitamins are sold. Buy them on sale.
What vitamins do you get? Brands?Wal-mart brand iron and B-12 complex with Folic acid. I buy liquid vit. at Costco.
During the first 2 weeks while on liquids, did any of you add protein to your chicken broth? NO I was thinking about getting some Any Whey tastless stuff to add to my broth. What do you think? Try it. Will my tummy tolerate protein supp's in the first 2 weeks?Everyone is different. Don't buy large quantities until you know you like it. Don't try it now, because your taste will most like change.
I am also curious how many weeks after surgery did you feel you could have gone back to work? Mainly to those of you who have sit down jobs. I went back to work after three weeks, I wish I would have taken one more week.
Sorry for all the question, but i figure i would just ask them all at once.
Questions and answers are what we're all about.

I just had my surgery 3 weeks ago. You only need to take your personal products with you, like brush, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc. As far as nightgowns go...forget it....you will be using the hospital gown and trust me..it's alot easier because every time you turn around someone is coming in to pull your nightgown up and look at your belly! Besides...you really won't care what you look like.
I cannot find a list of things to bring to the hospital. I dont know what to search for. Basics. robe, slippers, deodorant, toothbrush, something comfy to wear home. I wore PJ bottoms and a t-shirt. Oh, and as we have all said a MILLION times--Chapstick or something for your lips!
Is there a specific type of chicken, or beef broth that i should buy? Does one have more protein then others?Anything is fine As far as I know. I got the kroger store brand but there was a thread on here about a high protein broth that can be ordered. Sorry I don't remember the name.
Where do you peeps buy your vitamins from? I was told about Bariatric Advantage, but i wonder if i have to buy them forever from there? Wal-mart. Centrium chewables. I was taking wal-mart brand kids chewable vitamins for awhile but I like the taste of the centrium better. They are a little more expensive but my doc gives out $3.00 off coupons by the handful.

During the first 2 weeks while on liquids, did any of you add protein to your chicken broth? I was thinking about getting some Any Whey tastless stuff to add to my broth. What do you think? Will my tummy tolerate protein supp's in the first 2 weeks?I didn't start protein until week 3 per my doc. Whey protein (what I buy) says not to warm it up past a certain temp. However, when i was on cream soups I did add it occasionally. It tends to get lumpy so if you do it use the blender.
I am also curious how many weeks after surgery did you feel you could have gone back to work? Mainly to those of you who have sit down jobs. I work in a factory so I went back in 6 weeks but needed another 2 weeks. I think if I had a sit down job I would've been okay at about 4 weeks.
I hope that helps you out some. Don't buy a ton of broth or Jello or you'll end up throwing it out later on.

Default think i goofed

I only am taking 2 weeks off work, i think i really under estimated.
I have a sit down job so maybe it will be ok. I only have 1 week paid off, and the other i am taking un paid. So i was hoping to not be out so long.

So it looks like you all dont get any specail vitamins. I think i will still order my first 3 months at least from the bariatric place. I just wanna make sure i have everything.

Thumbs up Well...

Well I only took off a week of work and I have a sit down job just mke sure you walk...walk...and walk like you are supposed to dont just lay around because it is more comfortable they would not make you get up and move around in the hospital so soon after the surgery if it was not good for you make yourself get up and move around sit, stand, walk it may be a little uncomfortable sitting for a full day at work but just make sure you get up and move around I was fine and so ready to go back to work I hate being in the house so I was fine dont take too much time out or the Laziness of just being able to lay around especially if no one is around you think oohh no one will know trust me MAKE yourself get up and move around. I went to the mall and walked around very slowly they had benches there so when I got tired I was able to sit down and rest and people watch a couple times I thought I was gonna pass out cause I was so drained but then I just sat and made sure I had water with me. You will do just fine 2 weeks is more then enough in my opinion as long as the surgery goes smoothly which I am sure yours will. Good luck.

Walking is a must because it decreases the risk of pulmonary embolism. Sip alot of fluid to decrease the risk of dehydration. Cough to move the pulmonary secretions to decrease the risk of pneumonia.

Prenatal vitamins are available most any where.

Protein, not that important the first few weeks. Walking and sipping are your immediate tasks at hand.

Just personal items for the hospital stay.
