Yes, that part I know is correct! Hopefully, you can check with your doc soon to find out why he says to separate the multi from the calcium!

Thanks!

This is how I take my supplements

Morning coffee - about 5- 6 am 2 scoops of Upcal D calcium with added protein normally about 25 grms.

Breakfast about 8 -9 am - either 1oz of liquid vitamins or 1 -womens ultra mega cut in half.

Lunch about noon - if I took the liquid vitamin in the AM, then I take the pill cut in half in the afternoon.

Afternoon like 3pm - another 2 scoops of upcal D calcium

At bed time I take my iron.

Dr always suggested taking Iron at bed time. This seems to work for me, my labs have come back perfect.

Hey.. I just went over to the celebrate vitamin website and noticed a couple of things:

1) their dosage for their non-chewable multi's say only 3 a day not 6 which might help a little bit, though I'd probably still take them as one/3 x'day.

OR there is this option... not sure if you'd be interested or not but I thought I'd put it out there:

http://www.celebratevitamins.com/lin...oduct_info.php

A multi/calcium supplement that you can drink instead of having to worry about chewing/pills or whatnot. I've never tried the ENS drink option so I have no idea how it tastes.

Hubby says I spend too much time worrying about my supplements...lol.

AirForceWife,

Do you take the Bariatric Advantage iron pills? I cannot stand them and I bought a huge bottle. I would love to find someone that likes them and maybe I could donate them to that person.

Per the link that Corrine posted before (which I can't find just yet, but will try to find and will edit this post to add it, shortly) we should be getting 1500 mg to 2000 mg of calcium a day.. so I take 6 of the Celebrate calcium tablets and I get another good bit of calcium in my 2 containers of Fage yogurt a day... so you would need to see what the amount of calcium you are getting in your supplements. Also, on the BA tablets I found at Wegmans had iron in them so you'd need to check to see if yours does- in which case you'd need to take your calcium separately.

As far as the multi's.. I don't know what the correct dosage would be for that one. I just couldn't tolerate the taste of the bariatric advantage so I didn't do a lot of investigating on that one. What does the dosage say on the bottle?

Good luck, hon. This is just such an important issue so I'm glad this topic came up for discussion!

Okay.. here is the link that Corrine has provided..

Laurie, you're probably not taking enough calcium. How many mgs is in the BA calciums? I think the current thinking is that we need to take 1500 mgs per day.

The Celebrate ENS stuff tastes just like grape Koolaid to me. They sent me a free sample of it. I'm gonna order some.

Kelly

The Bariatric Advantage calcium capsules that I have are 1000 mgs. for 2 capsules. So should I be taking 3 a day or would other things I eat like yogurt, skim milk and cheese account for the other 500 mgs?

And my BA vitamins do not have any iron in them. I have to take a separate (horrible tasting) iron pill everyday. Which I do take 2 hrs. away from any calcium.

I can't say for sure what you should do re: your calcium, as I just don't know. I personally take 1500 mg of the celebrate chewable vitamin a day plus I eat at least two containers of Fage 2% which the label says provides "25% of the daily requirement" (whatever THAT means???) but I think you would have to decide on your own (maybe your nut can help you figure that one out?) whether the 1000 mg plus your food is enough.

Glad you're taking your iron separate. Have you tried the celebrate iron tablets? They taste yummy!
