Shopping Issues
Okay, I have to brag.
I have been doing nothing but shop recently and I am having a ball. Today I went into the dressing room with an arm full of clothes hoping to find one or two things that fit. Everything I tried on looked good. I even slipped into a 14 (yeah). In less than 5 months I am down from a 22/24 to somewhere between a 14/16. The scale hasn't moved much this month. But, previously to fit a 14 I had to be under 200 pounds. Maybe it is because I have lost some muscle mass or something. But, I am over 230 and fitting a 14 it is kind of bizarre. Or maybe the clothes 10 years ago were truer to size. Aren't they cutting the clothes bigger these days? Whatever the reason it feels good to feel like I am swimming in a 1x. I would be happy at this weight but I know that I am still losing. I have no idea where it will end up, but damn I feel good.
I am elated. For years I hated shopping. It was depressing to have a 24 feel tight. My 24's are falling off me. So now I have an excuse to hit the clearance racks. And, better yet my husband has not complained.

Melanie,
Congrats on your success! Isn't it a great feeling? I do think they cut clothes a little differently, and also I noticed a 14/16 in the plus stores are roomier than a regular dept store. I would accept ANY cut of 14/16 right now. I have surgery on Sep 7 and a cruise Jan 9........I'm stuck trying to guess sizes on the summer clearance rack. I really hope to be a size 14 by then!!! Keep up the good work and keep on shopping.....I know I will be.

Noooo, do not buy too many, because they won't fit in a month or two. I went from a 4x to a 20, to a 16. I wore a 16 one time, the next time it was too big. I missed the 14 and 12, went to a size 8, then a 4-6.
The clothes are bigger today, because my 20 year old size 9 jeans are tighter on me than my new 6's or 8's. I can wear a 4-6 with no problems, but I prefer size 8 because they feel good, are loose and comfortable. I wear extra small in any stretch, like size 4. I don't buy hardly anything, because I am always being given (tiny clothes).
I wear a 16 regular in little boys and I wear a large in little girls, they are cheaper, and fit fine. I still have boobs, or what used to be, hollow deflates is more like it. So little girls is small in the shirts, but shorts are okay, and jammies. I just can't wear the shirts! What a waste. LOL, I was thinkiing bout binding up my boobs just to buy some really fancy dress in the little girls department. Something I have to pay 50 bux for is on the little girl rack for 20, go figure!
It is one fine journey I will say that.

I knopw how you feel. B-4 GBP, I was wearing 30-32 and 4X clothes. Well, They are SOOOOO LOOSE on me now. I had to buy some new T-shirts a couple weeks ago. They are 2X. Two days ago, my DH came up behind me, IN THE STORE, and whispered in my ear, "How does it feel to be able to buy your clothes in a regular store now?" Well, the only things I can buy in regular stores, right now, are the shirts. BUT, that is only because I have tried on non-stretchy pants. If I were to try on knit pants instead of the "regular" or jeans, I would probably be able to buy them at Wal-Mart, Target, and/or Meijer. But, I am patient. I purposely bought knit pants with drawstrings before surgery so I could tighten then as needed until I had no choice but to purchase new pants. Right now, I can wear a 28 in regular pants. But, if I were to try on knits, I could probably wear 26-28. I know that those are at Meijer and Wal-Mart. Hmmmm.....maybe I will pick up a pair tonight......LOL
