1 Iron
1 B12

In the afternoon:
I take one calcium citrate

In the evening I Take:
1 calcium Citrate
1 Multi Vitamin

Shoudl I be doing this differently??? Am I missing anythign??? Any suggestions?

Thank You!!!

That is pretty close to what I do. Check the mg on your Calcium to make sure your getting 1000mg - 1500mg a day. I don't need the iron (male), but I think that you have to take the iron separate form the calcium (a couple of hours). I also do B12 injections (monthly) and a B-Complex daily.

You can't take the calcium and multi at the same time. It'll basicaly cancel each other out and not get absorbed.

Take the multi and calcium at least an hour apart.

You have to make sure you take your IRON two hours before or after your CALCIUM. If your multi has iron in it, then you also have to take your calcium separate from it, as well.. otherwise it is okay.

Also, new information states that we need 1800-2000 mg of calcium as well.. Corrine has posted the information, hopefully she'll weigh in, as I don't have the link she provided.

There is no issue with taking calcium and multivitamins together provided the multi doesn't have iron in it.

My recommendation would be to take the iron supplement just as you go to bed. That way, it'll be away from anything else.

Kay - question on your calcium.

How much elemental calcium does your supplement contain per dose? Most calcium citrate supplements require 2 or 3 tabs/caps/chews a time to get the usual dose of 500-600mg.

Check your labels carefully - the recommendation for us is between 1,500-2,000mg per day.

That's pretty much what I was saying from the get go..

Calcium and Iron bind together and then the body doesn't absorb either one.

Also forgot to mention to makes sure you take the Calcium Citrate + vitamin D..

Vitamin D helps the absorption of calcium..

Thank you everyone. I have a much better understanding now. My multivitamins do not have Iron in them, so I can take them with my calcium. But my Iron should be taken seperate at night. Also my calcium is 400mg so even no it suggests I take 3 a day I should actually try and take 5 to get 2000mg. Becasue as of now I am only taking 1200, which is not enough. My calcium does have vitmain D aslo. Wow I had no idea there was so amny vitamin rules. But THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

I'm tagging your post with the tag "vitamin" so this thread comes up in a search. Corrine, you are a godsend to this group.. I know I've said that before, but it can never be said enough!
