Hi everyone, update, and sad question
Hi everyone, sorry ive been out of touch but I was using my brothers laptop to post with you guys, and when he went back to his dorm I was left with squat lol. But hubby fixed the PC so im back!
Well I had my lap banding on the 5th of June, Man I wish weight loss was as fast as you GBS guys.well I was 306 pre op and am now down a few pounds. I plateued for like 2 weeks and was so upset. But once I started working out I started to lose again. I'm basically doing diet and aerobics and treadmill. But I do notice with my banding i dont get hungry as often and its easier to stick to my diet. I keep craving pizza so bad though!
On wed though I weighed in and saw that i had gained 3 lbs in like a day??? I was upset and still dont know what that 3 lbs is from. Im on a super low fat low carb diet.
My trainer is great, real supportive and gave me some vitamins to take. I told her about my surgery and she said she wouldnt tell the other people at the gym so that was nice. Well thats pretty much it, Im losing weight, not as fast as Id like, but at least im losing. Im think im gonna start weighing in weekly and not daily.
Oh, I wanna say thank you to the sweet woman who sent me a private email asking where I was, thats so sweet! thank you!!!
Now question....and i know its sad but i have been worrying about this for MONTHS....I'm coming back to the states for my honeymoon and was wondering, well, at my weight and a size 26, will I fit in airline seats? and what about amusement park rides, will I fit in those? Whenever something on TV comes on about a rollercoaster I always try to see if theres a plus size person on there, yet I never see one. I can fit in booths ok but i dont know about something im going to be strapped into....last time I was on a plane or roller coaster i was smaller than this.
If im not gonna fit can someone tell me now and spare me the embarrassment of not fitting infront of everyone, especially hubby?!?!?
Sad huh? But then again, a question im sure most of us here on this board has wondered at least once.

Hi!
I have been the weight you are now for awhile - it will be hard to fit in airplane seats but I think you can do it. YOu may have to lift the seat separator between you and your husband. Also, the seat belt has always fit me (just barely) but they do have extenders and you can ask the flight attendant for one when you first get on if you are worried about not being able to do the seatbelt.
I don't know about amusement parks - I have gotten too old to enjoy most of them except Disneyland but could always ride whatever I wanted to there.
I hope that all goes well and that you enjoy your honeymoon here in the states!
Let us know if we can help with anything else!

Thanks Anne, you have no idea how releived i am now abbout the plane. Anyone know about the rollercoasters though? those are my main worry...in front of all those people...seeing it not fit then having to get off? lol or even worse having it pop open during the ride!? Those rides are the main things we plan to do. And as courageous as I am in a swimsuit Im pretty sure water parks are out of the question, I remember a 230 lbs weight limit. I have this phobia of the teenage lifeguard telling me NO, youre too fat.

Great to hear from you! The 3 lbs could just be a little fluid retention (period time maybe?) so don't sweat that. It might also be that you have built up some muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. I wish I could tell you about the plane and rides but I avoided all those things for years. You are losing so maybe by the time you get here you'll have lost some more. Hope you have a great time!

Glad to see you back!
I think you're going to have a hard time fitting in the rides. I stopped riding things when I was 200 lbs and unable to squeeze into most of the rides. Depends on the ride too. The ones that flip you around are tighter vs. something like the ferris wheel.

I disagree about the rides. At 350 I could fit into most rides at Disneyland, California Adventure and Universal Studios. However -- there is a risk. There was one coaster at Magic Mountain I couldn't fit into and I had that experience you are afraid of, of being kicked off in front of a lot of people.
I also flew in an airplane at 350 and it wasn't too bad.

I'm a 26 now, (maybe a 28 ) but I was a 26 last time I was on an airplane and I fit in the seat, but had to move the arm rest up, and barely was able to get the seat belt on. But I did it. Of course my sister had a video camera of that trip, all our sons together on an airplane for the first time, and I HATE that video. I look like an oompa lommpa on steroids. Little stubby arms waving from my sides. I don't know what to tell you about the rides either sweetheart. I won't even try to go on rides I know aren't "fat friendly". I went on a roller coaster in Vegas, I think it's at the New York hotel. And I was so afraid I'd have that terrible experience Jared just mentioned. But I got lucky and there was a larger person then me in line ahead of us. I told my hubby if he didn't fit, I was going to leave. But he fit, and so did I. I KNOW the rides at Magic Mountain are smaller then the ones at Disneyland. Wish I could be of more help. Good luck!

How tall are you? The last time I was on an airplane was almost exactly a year ago. On the flight out my husband and I were in First Class...NO PROBLEM THERE!! On the way home it was a much different story. Not only were we in Coach, but we got seperated and I didn't even get to sit next to him...so, here I am in the window seat with my seat belt not fitting...having to ask the steward person for an extender in front of these two strangers next to me. Needless to say, I cried all the way home with my head turned to the window. Not a pleasant flight and not the ending I wanted to our perfect Alaskan cruise vacation. That is when the soul searching began and it took me a year to decide this surgery is what I need to do.
By the way, I am 5' 9" and weigh 315...back then I think I weighed 300.
I just went to Disneyland last March. We stayed for a week and had the park hopper tickets. My kids are to young to ride the roller coasters, so I was thankful for that because I know a) I would be nervous in line about getting kicked off and b) even if I did fit I am sure it would have hurt to some degree. We just went to Legoland on July 1st. and I rode ZERO rides. A lot of the rides there post a weight limit, so I had to explain to my kids why Daddy had to take them each on seperately...not fun either.

When are you going, and to what park? I am going to Magic Mountain today, so I will check what the size restrictions are, and let you know. I know on some you can be more than 42 inches around. I will check and then let you know tomorrow. As far as the plane I was almost 300 pounds and fit fine. I didn't need an extended seat beat, so I think you should be OK.
