crushed meds...YUCK! - ThinnerTimes

Hi friendly people,

I need to take a crushed version of Wellbutrin XL; I need to take B1 crushed and I need to take something for gall bladder poured out of a capsule.

I can get the capsule contents down with a shot of grapejuice. The problem is the other two are horrid in anything. I've tried them in grape juice and pudding. I almost threw them up last night.

Any suggestions on getting down some really bitter crushed meds?

Why do you need to crush the meds? Wellbutrin shouldn't be crushed at all. You can buy B-12 that dissolves under the tongue. Unless they're really huge, I took all my meds whole. Unless your doctor has told you otherwise.

I was also told not to swallow pills untikll I was 6 months out, they can obstruct the outlet. I take mine with either baby apple sauce or SF pudding. I mix it up well more or less set it at the back of my mouth and just swallow. Then I take a sip of CL to get any icky taste out of my mouth. HTH

I would have to go to the liquid version of meds or crush them. Most meds I can's swallow either unless they are tiny. The one benefit of a crushed med is that it works fast! maybe nasty but all I know is when your in pain and you need that help the crushed med absorbs quick. As far as B12 you can also get it in a spray, you spray it under your tongue. That is what I use.

I would ask a local pharmacist for suggestions and to see if there are any alternatives available. I am also having difficulty swallowing pills - i cut them in half and can get them down but sometimes it feels like they are stabbing me! Let us know what works for you!

I'm still crushing mine! Docs orders. I just hurry up and swallow them and take them with whatever I drink. The only suggestion I have is pop a s/f mint of some sort after. Thats how i do it!

Last night my son had some sour cream and onion chips right next to me so I ate just a bite of one to get the taste out of my mouth.

Ann, I worry about you taking those pills cut in half so soon after surgery. You need to crush them. They could get stuck even though you are cutting them in half. I'm not a doctor but that goes contrary to everything I've read and heard.

Plus I've had the surgery and can only imagine how that hurts. There are lots of Dr. Callery's patients here. What does he say about it?

I swallowed pills one week after my sergury. no problems....

But the liquid meds works better

I have been taking even my pain med after surgery in pill form. The liquid Lortab made me nasious. But that's just me. I would much rather take the pills than crush and vomit. I hate to get sick.

By the way I know were to get liquid mulit vitamins if anyone is interested. Kids liquid stregnth.

I wasn't told that I needed to crush them. I will ask Dr. Callery this week what he thinks.
