Default leg cramps...anyone

Hi everyone. I know it has been forever since I posted, but I do hate this site..I have to admit it....love you guys....hate the site. Anyway I am about 41/2 months out and doing great. I do not weigh since I was a size 14, now those come off w/out unzipping, so I broke down and bought 12's............yea!!!!! I think I am about 180 from 258, close to 80 pounds I guess. I feel great, tons of energy, no pain or discomfort...just wonderful really, except for this new and recurring thing. At night and in the am I am getting leg cramps, like charlie horse things in my calfs and feet, even the tendons in my ankles. Everyone says vitamin deficient...I don't know about that. I think w/food and vits I have all bases pretty well covered. I went and donated blood a week or so ago, and I am not even nearly anemic...my iron was 13.5. Any ideas or thoughts....send my way if you get a chance. Go Sandi!!!!! Good luck to all post ops and hang in there you pre ops...your day is coming........love to all.

Exclamation Leg Cramps

Jean,

Many things can cause leg cramps, some non life threatening, others very life threatening. This could be anything from a potasium deficiency to a blood clot. Remember Dr. C said that we have the potential for blood clots up to six months.. I wouldn't risk it call the office!! Please!!! Thanks for posting and please call Kelly!!!

Love ya,

Smile Leg cramps

Girlfriend, I get the leg cramps something fierce!!! I have had a blood clot before, I know that is not what is going on with me! i usually have it when I wake first thing in the morning. Only once in awhile do they wake me at night. My mom says to "eat a bannana" when that happens, so that is my suggestion to you. The potassium from bannanas seem to help it, it works for me!

Talking leg cramps

Hi everyone, its been awhile since Ive been on the site but thought I would take a look around and low and behold I found something I too have been experiencing the last few days..."leg cramps" like charlie horses...not really really bad ones but enough to wake me and startle me. Im gonna try the banana theory and I happen to have one here now so lets see if that helps. I do have to admit I havent been as good as I should have been with my vitamins so Im going to try to be more deligent. Incidentally Im about 8 months out and have loast 122lbs. Shopping for clothes is getting better and Im feeling great!! its nice to cross my legs again wohooooooo!! take care everyone!

I have not made it to the "leg cramps" stage, but when I was pregnant, they told me to increase my calcium.

Default Take your vitamins!

Please make sure you are taking your vitamins. More than likely the leg cramps are from a vitamin deficiency or dehydration.

Maritza,
Take your vitamins! This isn't optional with WLS. It is impossible to get the proper nutrition that we need from our limited diet. Vitamin deficiency sneeks up on you and can cause various problems as minor as leg cramps and as serious as death. Kelly trys to teach us this in the beginning and it is easy to get lazy about them because there isn't an immediate consequence from not taking them, but it also takes a lot of work to recover from a deficiency.
Ok, lecture over.

Default Vitamins

Just a quick hint. Take your vitamins when you eat. They get absorbed better that way.
